Robbie Sharp

Robbie Lanell Sharp, 81, of China, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018. She was born in Saratoga. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 13 at Cowboys for Christ Church in Kountze with burial following at Cowboys for Christ Church Cemetery in Kountze. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, January 12 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze. Survivors include her husband, Bill Sharp; children, Dana Jannise of China and Jeff Jannise and wife Shelley of Nanimo, British Columbia; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Wesley Ard

Wesley Winson Ard, 87, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 11 Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following at Ebenezer Cemetery in Jasper. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. the day of service at the funeral home. Born in Aldridge, Texas, he was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant, having served in the Vietnam War. Survivors include son, Richard Ard and wife Pam of Sour Lake; daughters, Vickie Bryant and husband Jimmy of Lumberton, Terrie McCardell of Beaumont and Kim Gray and husband Justin of Austin; brothers, Bill Ard and wife Camilla of Austin, Joe Ard of Jasper and Robert Ard and wife Jane of Forney, Texas; step-children, Linda Travis, Gary Travis, Steve Travis, all of Nederland and Cathy Moore of Lumberton; and 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, January 12 at the funeral home. Survivors include her sons, William Courts and wife Anita, Roger Courts and wife Mary and Phillip Courts and wife Elva Ann, all of Kountze; sisters, Elsie Mae Sell of Silsbee and Bobbie Ray Massingill and husbnad Eugene and Carolyn Williams, all of Honey Island; and nine grandchildren, five step grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Virginia Bess

Virginia Artie Walton Bess, 74, of Kountze, passed away Thursday January 4, 2018 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Her graveside service was Friday, January 12 at Bean Cemetery in Kirbyville under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze. Born in Kirbyville, she was a retired tax clerk. Survivors include her sons, Randy Walton of Lake Jackson and Jarrod Walton of Kountze; sister, Shirley Cordray of Center; and five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Johni Dunbar

Johni Ruth Dunbar, 85, of Silsbee, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018. She was born in Emilee, Texas, on June 28, 1932, to Bronson and Vernie Fitzgerald. She was a member of the Lonestar Square Dancers Club, and she taught exercise classes. She loved to crochet, garden and plant flowers. She lived life to the fullest. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Augustus Dunbar, Sr. “Gus”; brother, W.D. Fitzgerald; and son, Bronson Edwin Dunbar. She is survived by her sons, Donald L. Dunbar and wife Penny of Fort Worth, TX, Ronald Dunbar and wife Kathy of 29 Palms, California, and William Augustus Dunbar, Jr.

James Greenwood

James Arthur Greenwood, 68, of Fred, died Monday, January 1, 2018 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on July 1, 1949 in Silsbee, to Myrtle Judiene Bell and Arthur Eugene Greenwood. James worked as a supervisor for Kirby and Louisiana Pacific and retired as owner operator of Greenwood Lawn Service. Survivors include his children, Doot Greenwood and his wife Christina of Spurger, Amy Johnson of Fred and Kim Spurlock and her husband Jason of Fred; grandchildren, Gracie Greenwood, Della Greenwood, Faith Greenwood, of Spurger, Jamie Johnson, of Evadale, Emma Spurlock, and Sam Spurlock, of Fred; sister, Martha Gore of Silsbee; and numerous nieces and nephews. James is preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Matthew Johnson. A gathering of Mr. Greenwood’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.

Scot Smith

Scot Daniel Smith, 38, of Warren, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, December 24, 2017. He was born on July 18, 1979, in Galveston, Texas, to Sandy Simon Smith and Gerrell Roy Smith Jr. He grew up in the Lumberton area going camping and fishing with his parents and two brothers. While living in Lumberton he met his love, Misti Key, and they got married on April 15, 2000. They had three incredible children, Seth, Christi, and Jesse James. After the birth of their third child they decided to make their home in Warren, Texas. Scot spent a few years working for CSA, a sign shop, and then with the help of his brother-in-law began a career in electrical work, where he ended up being a journeyman for ESS in Silsbee. Some of Scot's favorite things to do was hanging out with family and friends around a fire, playing washers, riding horses or side-by-sides, watching the Cowboys or the Warren Warriors play, and playing Monopoly with his wife and kids.

BurLee Prine

BurLee Prine, 70,of Evadale, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Funeral service was Saturday, December 30 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following in Morse Cemetery in Buna. A native and lifelong resident of Evadale, he was a retired construction worker. The last 20 years he was a cattle rancher. Survivors include his sister, Viola Prine of Evadale.

Ouida Spears

Ouida Louise Spears, 65, of Buna, passed away Sunday December 31, 2017. She was born in Pensacola, Florida on December 5, 1952. She moved to Texas in 1968, and has lived here ever since. She loved all types of animals and rescued all that she could. She was an active member of Bon Ami Baptist Church in Kirbyville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She is preceded in death by her parents, Kennith and Gladys Sherman. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Jeffery Spears of Buna; daughters, Jennifer Colbert and husband, D. J. of Lincoln, Massachusetts, Wendi Stanley and husband, Todd of Buna, and Dorothy Spears of Vidor; grandchildren, Noah, Zoe, Aidan, and Alyssa; brother, Ken Sherman and wife, Margaret of Lake Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Farmer Funeral Home, officiated by Brother Elsey.

Wanda Moody

Wanda Marie Sanders Moody, 83, died at her home in Silsbee, Texas on January 1, 2018. Wanda was born on December 24, 1934 in Anacoco, Louisiana to Troy and Viola Sanders. Her family moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana where she was part of the 1953 Marion High School graduating class and attended Mc- Neese State University. After college, she worked for Mud Supply and KPLC TV before moving with her husband of 60 years, Will Moody, to Moss Bluff, Louisiana where she lived for the next 40 years. After investing in her children as a stay at home mom, she chose to work for the Calcasieu Parish Library System at the Moss Bluff Branch and continued there for 19 years.
