Lt. Col. Franz Nelsson

Lieutenant Colonel Franz E. Nelsson, U.S.A.F., retired, 79, of Kountze, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Liberty Health Care Center. Funeral service was Monday, March 6 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont with a military honors burial at Magnolia Cemetery, also in Beaumont. Born in Tacoma, Washington and a longtime resident of the area, he was a Lieutenant Colonel with the United States Air Force, retiring after 28 years service. Survivors include his wife, Lynn Nelsson of Kountze; daughter, Deborah Fox and husband Steve of Beaumont; step-sons, Shelby Luke Jr. and wife Nancy of Sweeney, Gary Luke and wife Angela of Nederland and Kevin Luke Sr. of Beaumont; and 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Cleothea Howard

Cleothea “Bubba” Howard, 69, of Silsbee, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 11 at New Hope Church of God in Christ in Silsbee with burial following at Kirby Cemetery, also in Silsbee under the direction of Calvary Mortuary in Beaumont. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. the day of service at the church. Survivors include sons, Cleothea Howard Jr. and Dimitri Carey, both of Silsbee; daughters, Lnora Howard of Silsbee and Brandi McCain of Dubai, United Arab Emerities (UAE); brothers, James Woods and wife Esther of San Diego, California and Ernest Lee Howard and wife Sonya, Willie Howard and Eric Wayne Howard, all of Silsbee; sisters, Tommie Lee Howard, Ruby Jean Scott, Mary Howard, Kathy Howard and Debra Howard, all of Silsbee; and grandchildren.

Lolita Petkovsek

Lolita Owen Petkovsek, 83, of Lumberton, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Funeral service was at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, March 8) at Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont. Her committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, she was a school teacher for 30 years and retired from Lumberton I.S.D. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Victor Petkovsek of Lumberton; daughters, Alison Gilmore of Lumberton and Lola Smith and husband James of Willis; sister, Judith Owen Plummer and husband Hugh, of Houston; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Roy Walker Jr.

Roy Lee Walker Jr., 91, of Lumberton passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Funeral service was Monday, March 6 at the First Baptist Church of Lumberton with burial following at Mimosa Pines Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sulphur, Louisiana under the direction of Lumberton Family Funeral Home. Born in Luling, he was a longtime resident of Sulphur, Louisiana before moving to Lumberton in 2001. He had worked at Conoco Chemicals and was a United States Navy veteran. Survivors include his daughter, Joni Stafford and husband Steven of Lumberton; sister, Pat Hruby of League City; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Sherry Esther Wells, 69, of Lumberton, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017. Born in Hull, she was an English teacher. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, James M. Wells III of Lumberton; son, James M. Wells IV and wife Jennifer of Midland; and one grandchild. There are no scheduled services planned. Provided by Lumberton Family Funeral Home.

John Reeves Jr.

A graveside service for John Milton Reeves Jr., 76, of Silsbee was at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday March 8, 2017 at Knupple Cemetery in Silsbee under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home. Visitation was Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Reeves passed away at Village Creek Rehab and Nursing Center on March 4, 2017. He was a native of Voth and a longtime resident of Silsbee. Mr. Reeves proudly served his country in the United States Army. John is preceded in death by his father, John Milton Reeves Sr.; mother, Emma Kathleen Harrod Reeves; and wife, Tommie Diane Roberts Reeves. Survivors include sons, Jason Reeves, Gregory Reeves, Kevin Reeves and Shawn Reeves, all of Silsbee and Trey Reeves of Lumberton; daughter, Toushia Ard of Silsbee; brother, Jerry Reeves of Sulphur, Louisiana; sisters, Joyce Marie Hillin of Kountze, Judy Blackmon of Silsbee and Janet Harris of San Marcos; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

Eual Puckitt

Eual Lee Puckitt, 89, of Kountze, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Funeral service was Monday, March 6 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial following in Daniels Cemetery, also in Kountze. Born in Jasper, he was a United States Army World War II veteran and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone company with over 30 years of service. He was also an active member of the Kountze chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association and past president of the Beaumont chapter. Survivors include his daughter, Cyndi Thomas and husband Robert of Mountain Brook, Alabama; brother, Eugene Puckitt of Lumberton; sisters, Mary Frances Conn and husband David of San Antonio and Ethel Perretta of San Diego, California; and four grandchildren.

Timothy Clarence Lacy, 71, of Kountze, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4 at Northside Church of God in Christ in Kountze with burial following at Trinity Valley Cemetery, also in Kountze under the direction of J.B. Coleman Memorial Mortuary in Silsbee. Visitation will begin at 9:45 a.m. the day of service at the church. Born in Honey Island and a longtime resident of Kountze, he had worked 35 years at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. Survivors include his son, Derek Merchant and wife Brandi of Ludowici, Georgia; sisters, Cathy Shaw of Kountze and Earlene Lockett of Oklahoma; and two grandchildren.

Hazel Hare

Hazel Maxine Hare, 90, of Evadale, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at her home. Funeral service was Sunday, February 26 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. A native and lifelong resident of Evadale, she worked as the cook manager in the restaurant industry. Survivors include daughters, Mary Hare Lowe of Milam, Linda Maxine Hare of Evadale, Vivian Hare Cooper of Buna and Georgia Hare of Evadale; brother, Shirley Moore of Buna; sister, Wanda Moore of Silsbee; and 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
