Survivors include his wife, Tina Drake; mother, Cassy Whitsitt and husband Billy of Hemphill; sister, Shy Seaman and husband Jason of Kountze; brother, Nick Drake of Hemphill; grandfather, Clyde L. Thomas Briggs

Thomas Jay Briggs, 52, of Lumberton, died Saturday, January 31, 2015. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 4) at Victory Temple in Beaumont with burial following in Resthaven Cemetery in Silsbee under the direction of Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton. He was in pharmaceutical sales, played the drums at Christ Community Church in Beaumont and Calvary Church in Lumberton as well as other churches in the area and was a basketball referee. Survivors include his parents, June and Robert Briggs; children, Joshua Briggs of Beaumont, Samantha Sexton and husband Toby of Port Neches, and Black Briggs and Grayson Briggs, both of Nome; brothers, Rev. Scott Briggs and wife Kathy of Silsbee and Timothy Briggs and wife Elizabeth of Tomball; and one grandchild.

Nettie Patel

Nettie Lee Hollyfield Patel, 78, beloved wife of Naresh 'Nick' Patel and daughter of Dora and Eugene Hollyfield, died January 28, 2015 at Christus St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service was at 1 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2015 at Farmer Funeral Home and she was laid to rest in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Visitation was Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. A native and lifelong resident of Silsbee, Nettie had worked as a trust officer for American National Bank and was co-owner of Deir's Drive In and Red Cloud RV Park for several years. Mrs. Patel is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elmer Hollyfield and Myrl Hollyfield; and sisters, Alma Smart, Gladys Cunningham, Mittie Richardson, Alta Gilmore and Myrtle Deir and husband Charles, who raised her. Survivors include her husband, Naresh 'Nick' Patel of Silsbee; and numerous nieces and nephews of her and Nick's, whom they loved as their own children.

Linda Rose Dupuis, 68, of Mamou, Louisiana and a native of Ville Platte, Louisiana died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in Lumberton after a short battle with cancer. Funeral service was Saturday, January 24 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton. Burial will take place in L’anseMeg Cemetery inMamou, Louisiana at a later date. Survivors include daughters, PaulaWatts and husband Joseph of Jasper and Phyllis Peeler and husband Chris of Lumberton; son, Jeff Guillory and wife Peggy of Lumberton; sister, Faye Landreneau of Reddell, Louisiana; and 12 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

Larry Ryan Jr.

Larry Edward Ryan Jr., 65, of Jasper, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. Funeral service was Thursday, January 22 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following in R.S. Farmer Cemetery, also in Silsbee. A native of Liberty, he had lived in Jasper three years and had previously lived in Livingston. He was a carpenter by trade and specialized in cabinets. He also worked for Home Depot. Survivors include his life companion, Katy Ryan of Jasper; sons, Larry Edward Ryan III of Kountze and Chance Matthew Ryan of Spring Branch; daughter, Lana Ellis of Jasper; brothers, Teddy Mercer of Tyler and Karl Ryan of Homer, Louisiana; sisters, Jewell Ryan and Barbara Beach, both of Homer, Louisiana; and ten grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

Thomas “Tom” Reginald Brown Jr., 75, of Kountze, died Friday, January 23, 2015. He had worked as a pipefitter with Local 195. Survivors include his wife, Rita Brown; sons, Tommy Brown and wife Debby of Cedar Park; daughter, Laura Lawrence and husband Kenneth of Kountze; and four grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. Per Tom’s wishes, no public service was held. Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze handled the arrangements.

James “Jim” Harvey Bobo, 72, of Silsbee, died Friday, January 23, 2015. Funeral service was Sunday, January 25 at Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Kountze under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following in Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches. A native of Springs, Arkansas, he was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from teaching, welding and ministering. Survivors include his wife, Norma Chance Bobo; daughter, Judy Jolynn Bobo of Silsbee; sisters, Nadine Hoover andMaxineWornicka, both of Norman, Arkansas and June Bobo of Nederland; and one grandchild and two greatgrandchildren.
