Sharon Sirmons

Sharon Elizabeth Bennett Sirmons, 65, of Spurger, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Funeral service was Saturday, April 12 at First Pentecostal Church in Silsbee under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following in Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze. Survivors include her husband, Cliff Sirmons; children, Sherry Landry and husband Mark, Bill Bennett and wife Joni, and Chris Bennett, all of Silsbee; Cliff Sirmons Jr. of Livingston,Mark Sirmons and wife Wilma of Jasper, Krysti Griffin and husband Doug of Livingston, Kevin Sirmons and wife Trina of Woodville, Joshua Sirmons of Conroe, Weston Sirmons of League City and Julianna Mitchell and husband Wayne; mother, Lena Mae Thomas of Kountze; sister, Retha Smith and husband Hershel of Wildwood; and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Rawls

Funeral services for Jimmy Edward Rawls, 56, of Spurger, were at 2 p.m. Saturday,April 12, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger. Visitation began at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Rawls passed away April 9, 2014 in Spurger. A native of Kountze, Jimmy was a lifetime resident of Hardin and Tyler counties. He worked for Triple S atMeadWesvaco as a pipefitter for many years. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, James T. ‘Jim’ Rawls; wife, Pamela Rogers Rawls; daughter, Amanda Rawls; and step-daughter, Annie Jeffcoat. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Sheffield Rawls of Spurger; mother, Helen Fleetwood Rawls of Silsbee; son, Shain Rawls and wife Kelsey of Spurger; daughter, Whitney Poche and husband Jason of Spurger; sister, Diane ‘Dicie’ Rawls of Silsbee; uncle, Charles Rawls & wife Brenda of Silsbee; and granddaughter, Ella Lynn Poche.

Reverend William H. Tanton, 85, of Votaw, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service was held Friday, April 11 at Votaw Worship Center in Votaw under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial following in Votaw Cemetery. He was a retired minister with VotawWorship Center. Survivors include his granddaughter, Kimberly Berry and husband Jason; and two greatgrandchildren.

Gloria Carmona

Gloria Faye Haley Carmona, 65, of Lumberton, died Sunday,April 6, 2014 from in Elkhart, after fighting a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton with burial following in Brookeland Cemetery in Brookeland, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at the funeral home. A native of Center, she was a hairstylist in Lumberton for 30 years and she had also worked at Silsbee Oaks Health Care for many years. Survivors include her daughters, Sheila Dunlap and husband Landon of Mauriceville and Donna Albanese of Palestine; brothers, Doyle Haley and wife Sylvia of Silsbee, Roger Haley of Lumberton and Tony Haley and wife Gail of Silsbee; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services for Columbus Ray Pender, 69, of Orange were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze. Visitation began at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Pender passed away April 7, 2014 at his residence. Columbus was born May 1, 1944 in Kountze. He was a retired veteran in United States Marine Corp. Mr. Pender is preceded in death by his parents, William Christopher and Mae Thelma Hargraves Pender; and his wife, Glenna Mae Pender. Survivors include son, David Ray Pender of Virginia Beach, VA; brother,Arthur G. Pender of Kountze; sister, Robbie L. Morse of Kountze; niece, Ann Royston and husband Tom of Orange; and a nephewMike Pender and wife Wanda of Silsbee.

Raymond Strong

Raymond Lewis Strong, 79, of Spurger, died Thursday, March 27, 2014. A memorial service was Saturday, April 5 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee. His committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont. Anative of Newgulf, he had lived in Newgulf, Liberty, Beaumont, and Bedias and had lived in Spurger since 2005. He retired from Dupont in 1985 and was a KoreanWar veteran. Survivors include Brenda, his wife of 54 years; daughter, Rachael Rogers and husband Danny; son, Ronald Strong and wife Azalia; brothers, Beryl Strong and wife JoLynn ofAlbuquerque, New Mexico and Elmer George Stong and wife Gayla of Tucson, Arizona; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services for Eunice Marie Hollyfield Kuritz, 90, of Hillister were at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Visitation was from 12:00 pm Sunday until the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Kuritz passed away April 3, 2014 at her residence. She was a native of Silsbee and was self-employed. Mrs Kuritz is preceded in death by her parents, Hannon  and Mary Moss Hollyfield; and husband, Ervin Kuritz. Survivors include sons, Jerry Kuritz and wife Liz of Houston and Timothy Kuritz and wife Patsy of Crowley; daughters, Barbara Richardson and husband John of Hillister and Marilyn Blanchette and husband John of Shawnee, Kansas; sister, Sarah Hollyfield of Silsbee; and fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren

Charles Ray Swearengin, 86, of Lumberton, died Monday, April 7, 2014. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today (Wednesday,April 9) at the funeral home. A native of Vivian, Louisiana and a former longtime resident of Nederland, he retired from Mobil Chemical in Beaumont with over 30 years service. He was a United States NavyWorldWar II veteran. Survivors include his wife, Betty; children,Martha Selensky and husband Jacob of Beaumont, Mike Swearengin and wife Shawnda of Cabot, Arkansas and Susie Biri and husband Todd of Bridge City; step-daughter, Kim Clark and husband Rob of Houston; and ten grandchildren.
