Hazel Jones

Funeral services for Hazel “Tom” Day Jones, 86, of Evadale were at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Visitation was from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Jones passed away March 8, 2014 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. “Tom” was born in Lillard, Texas and was a longtime resident of Woodville and Evadale. She was a housewife. She is preceded in death by her parents, F.A. “Arvel” and Elizabeth Tanton Day; husband, Jesse “Leroy” Jones; son, Dale Harvill; brother, Bud Day; and sister, Helen Jones. Survivors include sons, Perry Harvill and wife Betty and Billy Frank Reid and wife Linda, all of Woodville; daughter,MelindaWigley and husband Dale of Lufkin; sisters, Charlie Robert of Spurger, Beaulah Faye “Boots” Fry of Port Neches and Shirley Dominque and husband Harry of Rayne, Louisiana; six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Jed Lewis

Jed Randall Lewis, 36, of Silsbee, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born onAugust 4, 1977, in Silsbee. Jed had been a lifelong resident of the area and was a 1995 graduate of Silsbee High School. Survivors include his parents, Ernest and Judy Lewis; sister, Amy Florence and her husband, Kenneth, of Shelbyville; nephews, Ryan Florence and Joshua Florence; niece, Kendall Florence; and numerous other aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends. A memorial service for Mr. Lewis will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at First United Methodist Church Chapel, 670 North 5th Street, Silsbee. Laura Josephine Songe Boring, 92, of Kountze, died Friday, March 7, 2014 at Kountze Nursing Center in Kountze. Funeral service was Monday, March 10 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial following in Forest LawnMemorial Park in Beaumont. Anative of Beaumont and a lifelong resident of the area, she had worked in retail sales for both The Fair and Gem Jewelry. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Teel of Kountze; sister, Anna Belle Hodges of Livingston; and four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Ruby Stewart

Funeral services for Ruby Evelyn Hutto Stewart, 82, of Fred, will be 11:00 am Friday, March 14, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in Community Cemetery in Fred. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Stewart died March 11, 2014 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. A native and lifelong resident of Fred, Ruby was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Stewart; parents Amos Mack and Annie BellWest Hutto; sisters Gene Watts and Mae Gibbs and brother Pat Hutto. Survivors include her sons, Joe Amos Stewart and wife Marietta and Robert Allen 'Bobby' Stewart, both of Fred; sister Oneta Faye Harris and husband Thomas of Fred; grandchildren, Josh Stewart and wife Mindy, Jacob Stewart and wife Hailey, Justin and Courtney Stewart, all of Fred; great grandchildren Lynn and Katie Stewart and Evan and Aubree Jordan and many extended relatives and friends, who all loved her dearly.

She had lived in Lumberton 43 years and she and her husband owned and operated their family business, Allied Fence Company, for most of their working lives. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Raymond Guy Joines; son, Frankie Guy Joines and wife Terry of Kountze; daughters, Joni Silcox and Toni Parker, both of Lumberton; and six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
