Brenda Miller

Brenda Miller, 67, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Fred, she was a longtime resident of this area. She was employed with Huffman I.S.D. before retiring. Survivors include her husband, GeorgeAlbert Miller of Silsbee; sons, Tracy Andrews and Charles Andrews Jr. of Evadale; daughter, SheilaAndrews of Evadale; brother, John Reed of Lufkin; sisters, Betty Reed of Silsbee and Linda Freeman of Bessmay; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral service may be held at a later date.

CharlotteAnn KirbyViguet, 67, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Funeral service was Saturday, May 24 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following in Forest LawnMemorial Park in Beaumont. Born and raised in Silsbee, she lived in Beaumont most of her adult life. She was employed by Entergy and was a tax preparer for Gayle Botley CPA before retiring. Preceding Charlotte in death were her parents, James M. Kirby Sr. and Juanita Frazier Richardson; husband, Don Viguet Jr.; and sister, Lisa Blincoe. Survivors include brothers, James M. Kirby Jr. and wife Kay of Town Bluff, and Van Richardson and wife Joni and Mike Richardson and wife Debbie, all of Silsbee; and sisters, Cathy Johnson and husband Johnny and Robbie Marshall and husband Aaron, all of Silsbee.

Funeral services for Venita Camille Webb Moss, 72, of Buna, will be at 10:00 am Friday, May 30, 2014 at Friendship Baptist Church in Buna with interment following in Morse Cemetery under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Mrs. Moss died May 27, 2014 at Silsbee Oaks Health Care. Anative of Tucumaria, NM, Venita was a long time resident of this area. She was a homemaker and a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, Les Lee andMarjorie Webb and Iwona Vick and son-in-law, DwightMock. Survivors include her husband of 53years, GeraldMoss of Buna; sons, Vance Moss and wife Mindy of Evadale and Leslie Moss and wife Shannon of Buna; daughter, Lynece Mock of Evadale; brother, Billy Don Collier; sister, Vickie Daily and five grandchildren, Kirbie Humble and husband WT, Dillon Moss, Ethan Moss, Baylee Mock and Bret Mock.

Ellia Dace

Ellia Fisher Dace passed away onMay 11, 2014 at the age of 78. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Silsbee, TX for many years before moving to Kingwood, TX to be near her family. Ellia was devoted to her family with virtuous love. She is survived by her husband Dennis Dace; daughter, Denise Sonnenberg and husband Steve; son, Eric Dace; grandchildren, Zachary and Kristen Sonnenberg; and sister, BettyWooldridge. Ellia was laid to rest at 10:30am on Friday, May 16th at Houston National Cemetery; her family and friends celebrated her life at noon at RosemontAssisted Living, in Humble, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214.

James Layfield

James D. Layfield, 91, of Lumberton, died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service was Sunday, May 18 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial following in Old Hardin Cemetery, also in Kountze. A native of San Augustine County, he was a United States Army World War II veteran and a retired gauger with Sun Oil Company. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Layfield; son, Larry Dewayne Layfield and wife Carol of Lumberton; step-children, Dale Fillingim of Lumberton, Beulah Grant and husband Edward of Sour Lake, and Donny Fillingim of Kountze; and three grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
