Robert Evers Sr.

Robert Earl Evers Sr., 77, of Montgomery, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018. Funeral service was Saturday, February 17 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following at Holland Cemetery in Village Mills. Survivors include his children, Nita Jeanes and husband Keith of Saratoga, Rachelle Herring and husband Glen of Magnolia, Lena Neugebauer and husband Rusty of Montgomery and Robert Evers Jr. and wife Melissa of Stonewall, Louisiana; brother, Bennie Merle Evers and wife Mary Ann; sister, Mabel Williams of Silsbee; and eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Hazel Freeman

Hazel Jane Wood Goodman Freeman, 75, formerly of Silsbee, Texas, passed away February 18, 2018, due to complications after an extended battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). She was born to Haddie Backermann Wood and Cecil Robert Wood on October 24, 1942, at Central Clinic Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She was educated at San Antonio area schools, attending Messiah Lutheran School, and Harlandale Junior High and Senior High, before graduating from Edison in 1960. She went to San Antonio College and Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos, now called Texas State University, where she obtained a teaching certificate. Life itself was a learning experience. Thanks to her daddy's penchant for nicknames, she was known as Pat, or Patty, through her childhood and early adult years. She married Bob Goodman on June 28, 1964, and they had five children together. She was baptized into Christ at the Church of Christ in Corrigan, Texas, on November 11, 1973.

James Leo “Jim” Taylor, 77, of Lumberton, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Beaumont. A memorial service was Monday, February 12 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Born in Beaumont, he was a retired carpenter. Survivors include his sons, James Kenneth Taylor Sr., Roger Lynn Taylor and Johnny Howard Taylor, all of Lumberton; brothers, Marvin H. Taylor and Larry D. Taylor, both of Lumberton; sisters, Judy N. Bryant and husband Jerry, Kathy E. Phelps and husband Kevin, all of Lumberton; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His committal was at Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze. Survivors include his parents, Monica Delado Romero and Paul Ramos Herrara; brothers, Raul Ramos and wife Alicia, Arturo Ramos and wife Rosalba, Javier Ramos and wife Bety, Ernesto Ramos and wife Claudia and Adan Ramos; and sister, Susana Ramos and husband Miguel.

Funeral service was Friday, February 9 at Memorial Funeral Home in Vidor with burial following at Restlawn Memorial Park, also in Vidor. Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Jesse Ray “Boots” Whitmire of Evadale; sons, James “Slick” Byerly and wife Anita of Mountain Grove, Missouri and Jerrell Byerly and wife Shelly of Vidor; daughter, Becky Byerly Lee and husband James of Vidor; and five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Isom Newton “I.N.” Brown Jr., 65, of Kountze, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 15 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial following at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze. Born in Silsbee, he retired from Texas Forestry with 31 years service. Survivors include his wife, Johanna Brown of Kountze; children, Isom Newton Brown III, Sam Brown of Orangefield, David Brown and wife Joanna of Groves, Joe Brown of Nederland, David Bastian and wife Mona of Wildwood, Harold Bastian and wife Dusty of Kountze and Heather Arboleda of Pearland; siblings, Patsy Willingham, Anthony Gehrig Brown and Pandora Brown Burnett, all of Silsbee and Betsy and Gordy Thoreson, of Phoenix, Arizona; and twelve grandchildren.

Ima Jean Flowers, 70, of Woodville, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018. Born in Silsbee to Will and Evie Hooks, she was a longtime resident of Saratoga before moving to Woodville. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Guy Wayne Flowers: daughters, LaJeana Ann Roberts and husband Michael of Groves and Janie Waynette Leger and husband Grady of Dam B; brother, Norman Hooks of Silsbee; sisters, Dorothy Lavone Gordon of Austin and Eva Weeks of Silsbee; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services were private at the family’s request.

Charles O. Reed, 76, of Silsbee, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. A memorial will be held in Belton, Texas. He was an environmental engineer. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Reed of Silsbee; children, Chris Reed and wife Lydia of Bryan, Michael Reed of Beaumont and Charles Reed IV of Virginia; sister, Pat Jackson and husband Don of Belton; and two grandchildren.
