George Kirkpatrick Jr.

George P. Kirkpatrick, Jr., “Pete”, born May 20, 1934, in Jasper, Texas, to George P. Kirkpatrick, Sr. and Lela Scott Kirkpatrick (Nee Hancock) and passed from this life on December 20, 2017, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont, surrounded by his wife Jo Ann Kirkpatrick and family. Pete was a graduate of Beaumont High School and Sam Houston State University. He also attended Baylor Law School. Pete practiced law in Hardin County for more than fifty years and was one of the last lawyers who “read the law” under the tutelage of R. A. “Red” Richardson and his father George P. Kirkpatrick, Sr. prior to being sworn into the State Bar of Texas in 1961.

Lee James

Lee James “L.J.” Parker, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, December 20) at Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following in Fred Community Cemetery in Fred. He was a native and longtime resident of Scott, Louisiana and had lived in Daisetta. Survivors include brothers, Wilber Parker and wife Laurie of Lota, Malcolm Parker of Daisetta, Albert James Parker of Silsbee, Hardy Parker and wife Selena of Scott, Louisiana and Troy Parker and wife Angela of Silsbee; and sisters, Oweita Cooper and husband Dennis of Leesburg, Georgia, Dianne Shiver and husband Warren of Camilla, Georgia, Linda Broom and husband Kenneth Jr. of Silsbee and Patricia Broussard and husband John.

Willie Gore

Willie Bee Gore, 94, of Silsbee, died Monday, December 11, 2017. She was born November 7, 1923 in Silsbee to Arzalia “Zadie” Strahan Baker and Bronson Cooper Baker. Willie Bee loved to cook and was a faithful member of Caney Head Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Mallette; son, Jerry Lynn and wife Tracey Lyn; grandchildren, Vance Cawley and wife Cheryl, Jill Barker and husband John, Renee Williams and husband David, Kevin Gore and wife Kandy and Clint Gore and wife Kathy; great-grandchildren, Thomas Cawley and wife Brittany, Quinton Cawley and wife Bryce, GiGi Campbell and husband Matthew, Jed Barker, Brooke Williams, Colt Williams, Faith Gore, Chance Gore, Samantha Hightower, Brody Hightower, Tristan Gore, Ashton Gore, Autumn Cawley, and Ryder Cawley; three great-greatgrandchildren and one on the way; sisters, Betty Ward and Gladys Tanton; sister-in-law, Raye Baker; and daughter-inlaw, Sarah Gore.

Randy Read

Randy Read passed away nexpectedly but peacefully the night of December 12, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Robinson Read, his three sons and their wives, Robert L. Read and Mary Christine Reed of Austin, Chris and Vonna Read of Memphis, Tennessee, and Randol and Tina Read of Bellaire, Texas, as well as his eight grandchildren: Kelvin, Hannah, Ethan, Grace, Felix, Luke, Samson, and Matthew. Randol Robert Read was born in 1943 in Lubbock, Texas, while his father, Major Robert Read, was fighting in the European theater. When his father returned from the war, Randy asked his mother, Lola, “Who is that man?” Randy grew up in the small town of Silsbee, Texas, hunting and fishing with his father, playing basketball and football in high school, and later attending Rice University, where he continued to obtain a PhD in Electrical Engineering. He went to work at Amoco, which became BP, and worked there until his retirement. Dr.

Leroy McClelland

Leroy McClelland, 91, of Silsbee, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017. He was born in Bronson, TX, on April 17, 1926, to George and Molly McClelland. He served in the United States Navy and worked for the Odeco Drilling Company in New Orleans, LA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie McClelland, daughter, Debbie McClelland and sisters, Louise Bevil and Viola Parsley. He is survived by his sons, Anthony McClelland and wife Teresa of Buna, Tim McClelland of Evadale, and step-son Jimmy Simmons and wife Sue of Boyd, TX; daughters, Ava Liddell of Buna, Michelle Droddy and husband Troy of Silsbee, step-daughters, Charlotte Golden and husband Bill of North Richland Hills, TX, Janice Thompson and husband Donald of Kountze, and Debra Hardin and husband Leo of Amarillo; brothers, Gene McClelland of Tyler, TX; sister, Mary Warren and husband Charles of Pineland, TX, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Doris Ann Hancock

Doris Ann Hancock, 76, of Silsbee, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017. She was born on November 9, 1941 in Orange to Doris Ann Allen Marshall and Readous Marshall. Survivors include her children, Elizabeth Gilley of Evadale, Clayton Authement and wife Joyce and Helen Williams and husband Frankie, all of Silsbee, Terry Hancock and wife Pam of Mississippi and Craig Carlos of Silsbee; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Guy Marshall. Her committal was handled by Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont.

Charles Robert Anderson, 64, of Kountze, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017. Born in Artesia, New Mexico, he was a retired pipefitter and welder. Thomas Lynwood Grant, 78, of Lumberton, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017. A graveside service was Tuesday, December 19 at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze under the direction of Lumberton Family Funeral Home. Born in Beaumont, he was employed with Gulf States for over 30 years. He was a United States Navy veteran. Survivors include son, Wade Grant and wife Susan of Arizona; daughter, Andrea Carruth and husband Darren of Lumberton; adopted daughter, Treasure Francis and husband Cazzy of Nederland; and ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Katherine Ann “Kathy” Vaughn

Katherine Ann “Kathy” Vaughn Seaman, 66, of Kountze, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at her home. She was born in Beaumont. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 23 at Gateway Church in Kountze. Cremation was under the direction of Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton. Survivors include her sons, William Seaman and wife Leanna and Jason Seaman and wife Shy, all of Kountze; mother, Nona Burnett Vaughn of Silsbee; father, Hollis Vaughn and wife Yvonne of Marshall; sisters, Lynne Marshall and husband Garry and Nita Vaughn Simmons, all of Silsbee; brother, Terry Vaughn and wife Nanette Vaughn of Silsbee; and six grandchildren.

Marilynn Parker-Terry

Marilynn Parker-Terry, a long-time resident of Evadale, Texas passed away Friday, December 15, 2017. Marilynn was born in 1941 in North-East Pennsylvania and resided in Evadale, Texas for the majority of her lifetime. Marilynn graduated from Buna High School in 1959, where she was known as “Our Yankee”. She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church in Evadale, Texas serving as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Marilynn enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing, and especially playing with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Hugh Delane Terry and children: Kay Olds and Mike, Martin Terry and Mattlyn, and Bruce Terry. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Candice, Meagan, Chase, Laikyn, Kamri, and Brock, along with twelve great grandchildren: Jaden, Rylan, Nevon, Allie, Tynlee, Wrangler, Kai, Waylen, Harper, Avery, Macy and Quinton. Marilynn is survived by two sisters, Ellen Peters of South Dakota and Susan Black of Evadale.
