Clyde Laird

Clyde Laird, 81, of Kountze, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 at his home. Funeral service was Saturday, May 26 at Faith & Family Funeral Home in Batson. Born in Kountze, he was an electrician by trade and was a member of Local 479 in Beaumont. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Fannie Laird of Kountze; daughters, Tana Mc- Cormick and husband Doug and Tambra Edwards and husband Gary, all of Kountze; sons, Timmy Frazier and wife Christi of Silsbee and Stuart Laird and wife Donna of Kountze; sister, Juanita Justice of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers, Hubert Laird of Town Bluff and Wayne Laird of Sour Lake; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Walter Clayton Federick

Walter Clayton Federick, 57, of Silsbee, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018. A memorial was at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, May 30) at Holland Cemetery in Kountze. A Silsbee High School graduate, he was an artist, specializing in the modern and the abstract. He was also a certified interior designer. He worked as a cook for the old Cottage Restaurant and also at the Silsbee Country Club. Survivors include his sister, Vernonica Vance and husband Billy of Silsbee; and brother, Dewayne Federick, also of Silsbee.

Otto “Pat” Hatcher

Otto “Pat” Hatcher, 84, of Lumberton, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018. Born in High Island and a former resident of Pine Ridge, he retired from Reading & Bates Drilling Company, Western Oceanic, and Noble International. After retirement, he became an independent drilling consultant in Southeast Texas. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Barbara Ann Wimberly Hatcher; children, Patricia Hatcher Brady of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Donna Hatcher Russell and husband Rusty of Vidor and Julie Hatcher Cowart and husband James of Kountze; sister, Betty Hatcher Manuel of Pine Ridge; and six grandchildren. Per Otto’s request, there will not be a visitation or a service. A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date.

Arline Caroline “Tommie” Lastovica, 92, of Lumberton, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, May 30) at Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Lumberton with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery in Silsbee under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Born in Arneckeville, she had lived in Lumberton since 1966. Survivors include her children, Pat Fancher and husband John of Highlands, Kathy Vondenstein and husband Perman of Mont Belvieu, Sandra Klontzakis and husband Manolis of Lumberton, Margaret Becker and husband Wes of Fischer, Jim Lewis and wife Julie of Crosby, Theresa Franks and husband Mark of Lumberton, Rick Lewis and wife Galus Halasz of Brooklyn, New York, and Joyce Self of Silsbee; brother, John Hans and wife Emiko of Houston; and 26 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

Lawrence Gilder Jr.

Lawrence Gilder Jr., 80, of Buna, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2018 at Herman Memorial Hospital in Houston. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2 at Greater Mt. Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Kountze with burial following at Bessmay Cemetery in Buna under the direction of J.B. Coleman Memorial Mortuary in Silsbee. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. the day of service at the church. He retired from Kirby Forestry in Silsbee with 28 years service and also Buna I.S.D. as a bus driver. Survivors include his wife, Helen Marie Gilder; daughters, Edna Holmes and husband Charles and Gwen Kelly-Hall, all of Silsbee; sons, Lawrence Gilder II of Beaumont and Michael Gilder and Fredrick Aaron, both of Buna; brother, Jason Gilder of Houston; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Willie “Joyce” Gandy

Willie “Joyce” Gandy, 90, of Kountze, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018. She was born in Daisetta, Texas on September 22, 1927, to her parents, Jessee and Mintie Meadows. She was a great cook and could prepare most anything. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Samuel Gandy; parents, Jessee and Mintie Meadows; siblings, Bob Meadows, Flora Flowers, Dru White, Earline Parsley, George Meadows, Herbert Meadows, and Nevada Knight. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Kay Ryan of Kountze; grandsons, Brent Allen Parker and wife, Theresa of Kountze, and Joseph “Ross” Hamilton of Kountze; great-grandchildren, Annastacia Marie Hamilton of Salt Lake City, Utah, Kyla BreeAnn Parker of Kountze, and Gage Allen Parker of Kountze; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Houston, he was a United States Navy veteran.
