Calvin Wimer Sr.

Calvin Bruce Wimer Sr., 73, of Kountze, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, January 31) at Kountze United Methodist Church in Kountze under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary, also in Kountze. His committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont. Born in Warren, Pennsylvania, he was employed by Haliburton for 18 years, eight of those years were spent overseas in England, Brunei and Singapore. He retired as the owner and operator of Wimer’s Auto and Truck Service in Kountze after 35 years. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Jordan-Wimer of Kountze; daughter, Michelle Boyett and husband James of Silsbee; son, Calvin Wimer Jr. and partner Robert Alston of Silsbee; step-children, Angella Newsom and husband Scott of Nacogdoches, Alicia Taylor and partner Mike Pieper of Lumberton and Tony Flower of Kountze; brother, John Charles Wimer Sr.

Billie Simmons

Billie Carrol Simmons, 76, of Buna, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Evadale, she was a bookkeeper with Tricon in Beaumont. Funeral service was Friday, January 26 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following at Antioch Cemetery in Buna. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Simmons of Waco; and sister, Johnnie Fling of Evadale.

Donald Edison Hamilton Sr., 95, of Silsbee, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Funeral service was Saturday, January 27 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Silsbee under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home, also in Silsbee. Burial was Sunday, January 28 at East Memorial Garden Cemetery in Texarkana, Arkansas. Born in Harrington, Kansas and a former resident of Texarkana, he had lived in Silsbee the past  8 years. Survivors include his son, Don Hamilton; sister, Doris Irons; brother, David Hamilton; and seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.

Patricia Rychlec

Sustained by her faith, Patricia Sullivan Rychlec, 58, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 15, 2018 in Westerly, Rhode Island. Patricia was born in Malden, Massachusetts to Patricia Grayson and Lawrence Sullivan. She was raised in Silsbee, Texas and attended Mass Maritime Academy, where she earned her degree in Marine Transportation. She worked for Electric Boat for 33 years before falling ill. She was heavily involved in a number of community groups, holding many posts at Dunn’s Corners Community Church Presbyterian (DCCCP), including serving as a leader to the Teen Team, and participating in the Westerly Relay for Life and Warm Shelter Penguin Plunge. Patricia enjoyed golf, reading, giving, sports, and adventures.

Elizabeth Freeman

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Taylor Freeman was born April 14, 1946 in Silsbee, Texas. Her parents were Jewel and Mary Frances Nolan Taylor. She passed from this life on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Leesville, Louisiana. Elizabeth Ann grew up and completed High School in Silsbee. She was training to be a nurse’s aide when she dated and married SSG Phillip Freeman. Elizabeth was a military spouse from November 1970 to November 1984. She had a residence at: Ft. Hood, Texas; Schweinfurt, Germany; Ft. Knox, Kentucky; Mainz Germany; Ft. Polk, Louisiana; and Bamberg Germany. Her permanent residence has been Anacoco, Louisiana since 1985. She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Francis Carline Freeman; and her brother, Bobby Larry Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Phillip Freeman of Anacoco, Louisiana; son, Merle Jay Freeman of Lafayette, Louisiana; grandchildren, Ethan Freeman and Elizabeth Ava Freeman, both of Lafayette; brother, Joey E.

Ron Wilkins

Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Ronald Bryce Wilkins, age 66, died of natural causes at his alpine home in Bellevue, Colorado on Monday, January 15, 2017. Ron was born to Maxine and Bryce Wilkins on April 11, 1951 in Goodland, Kansas, just prior to the family relocating to Colorado to be closer to both his maternal and paternal grandparents. Ron spent a great deal of time with his grandparents and was influenced to a desire toward military service by his grandfather, Cecil Wilkins and a passion to ranching by his grandfather, Paul Brown. His formative years were spent in Hugo, Colorado where his parents published the Eastern Colorado Plainsman, then later moved to Mitchell, Nebraska to complete high school while working in his family business, The Index and also Scottsbluff Star-Herald. Ron graduated from Mitchell High School in 1969.
