Iva Clark

Iva Rae Caywood Clark, 80, of Lumberton, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at a Beaumont hospital. Funeral service was Friday, January 5 at Woodcrest Methodist Church in Lumberton with burial following at Hooks Cemetery in Kountze under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. She retired from Sears in Beaumont with 17 years service as a salesperson in the hardware department. She was a 50 plus year member of the Order of the Easter Star, Chapter 298 in Silsbee. Survivors include her husband, Thomas H. Clark of Lumberton; son, Clayton Caywood and wife Denise of Lumberton; daughter, Felecia Caywood Colton and husband Mike of Kountze; step-children, Thomas Clark Jr. and wife Jo of Beaumont, Rob Clark and wife Jana of Bridge City and Teresa Clark Reza and husband Jerry of Bridge City; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jo Ann Jenkins

Jo Ann Hooks Jenkins, 76, of Silsbee, passed away on Saturday, January. 6, 2018 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Jo Ann was a housewife, mother and grandmother. She was born and raised in Spurger. She lived the rest of her life in Silsbee, where she married Dick Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter (Dick) Jenkins; her parents, Steve and Minnie Hooks; and two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Eason and husband Lavoy of Spurger, Janet Whitmire and husband Jimmy of Vidor, and Tammy Hollyfield and husband Norman of Village Mills; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January. 11, 2018, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Farmer Funeral Home, 415 N. 4th St., Silsbee, Texas 77656. Funeral Services will be on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Brother Wayne Watts officiating.

Linda Susan Tanton, 74, of Silsbee, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018. Her graveside service was Tuesday, January 9 at Fred Community Cemetery in Fred under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee. Survivors include her husband, Curtis Tanton; children, Clinton Leo Tanton, Lindsey Ard and husband Mitchell and Aaron Wayne Tanton, all of Silsbee; and four grandchildren.

Betty Strawther

Betty Lou “Betty Boo” Strawther, 72, of Call, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018. She was born in Lafayette, Louisiana. Survivors include sons, Jimmy Wayne Strawther and wife Sheila of Call and Michael Lee Strawther and wife Janice of Spurger; daughters, Sheila Ann Crawford of Nacogdoches and Lisa Jean Trasher and husband Jackie of Kirbyville; three brothers; three sisters; and 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Committal was handled by Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont.

Donald Young

Donald Frank Young, 80, of Silsbee, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at his home. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, January 10) at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery, also in Silsbee. He was a boilermaker by trade and a member of Boilermaker Local #26. He was also a United States Air Force Korean War veteran. Survivor include son, James W. Young of Winston Salem, North Carolina; daughter, Jodie Trombley and husband David Coudrain of Silsbee; brother, Lukas Young of Winston Salem; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, January 12 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze. Survivors include her husband, Bill Sharp; children, Dana Jannise of China and Jeff Jannise and wife Shelley of Nanimo, British Columbia; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Wesley Winson Ard, 87, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 11 Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following at Ebenezer Cemetery in Jasper. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. the day of service at the funeral home. Born in Aldridge, Texas, he was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant, having served in the Vietnam War. Survivors include son, Richard Ard and wife Pam of Sour Lake; daughters, Vickie Bryant and husband Jimmy of Lumberton, Terrie McCardell of Beaumont and Kim Gray and husband Justin of Austin; brothers, Bill Ard and wife Camilla of Austin, Joe Ard of Jasper and Robert Ard and wife Jane of Forney, Texas; step-children, Linda Travis, Gary Travis, Steve Travis, all of Nederland and Cathy Moore of Lumberton; and 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Virginia Artie Walton Bess, 74, of Kountze, passed away Thursday January 4, 2018 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Her graveside service was Friday, January 12 at Bean Cemetery in Kirbyville under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze. Born in Kirbyville, she was a retired tax clerk. Survivors include her sons, Randy Walton of Lake Jackson and Jarrod Walton of Kountze; sister, Shirley Cordray of Center; and five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Johni Dunbar

Johni Ruth Dunbar, 85, of Silsbee, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018. She was born in Emilee, Texas, on June 28, 1932, to Bronson and Vernie Fitzgerald. She was a member of the Lonestar Square Dancers Club, and she taught exercise classes. She loved to crochet, garden and plant flowers. She lived life to the fullest. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Augustus Dunbar, Sr. “Gus”; brother, W.D. Fitzgerald; and son, Bronson Edwin Dunbar. She is survived by her sons, Donald L. Dunbar and wife Penny of Fort Worth, TX, Ronald Dunbar and wife Kathy of 29 Palms, California, and William Augustus Dunbar, Jr.
