James Greenwood

James Arthur Greenwood, 68, of Fred, died Monday, January 1, 2018 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on July 1, 1949 in Silsbee, to Myrtle Judiene Bell and Arthur Eugene Greenwood. James worked as a supervisor for Kirby and Louisiana Pacific and retired as owner operator of Greenwood Lawn Service. Survivors include his children, Doot Greenwood and his wife Christina of Spurger, Amy Johnson of Fred and Kim Spurlock and her husband Jason of Fred; grandchildren, Gracie Greenwood, Della Greenwood, Faith Greenwood, of Spurger, Jamie Johnson, of Evadale, Emma Spurlock, and Sam Spurlock, of Fred; sister, Martha Gore of Silsbee; and numerous nieces and nephews. James is preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Matthew Johnson. A gathering of Mr. Greenwood’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.

Scot Smith

Scot Daniel Smith, 38, of Warren, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, December 24, 2017. He was born on July 18, 1979, in Galveston, Texas, to Sandy Simon Smith and Gerrell Roy Smith Jr. He grew up in the Lumberton area going camping and fishing with his parents and two brothers. While living in Lumberton he met his love, Misti Key, and they got married on April 15, 2000. They had three incredible children, Seth, Christi, and Jesse James. After the birth of their third child they decided to make their home in Warren, Texas. Scot spent a few years working for CSA, a sign shop, and then with the help of his brother-in-law began a career in electrical work, where he ended up being a journeyman for ESS in Silsbee. Some of Scot's favorite things to do was hanging out with family and friends around a fire, playing washers, riding horses or side-by-sides, watching the Cowboys or the Warren Warriors play, and playing Monopoly with his wife and kids.

BurLee Prine

BurLee Prine, 70,of Evadale, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Funeral service was Saturday, December 30 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following in Morse Cemetery in Buna. A native and lifelong resident of Evadale, he was a retired construction worker. The last 20 years he was a cattle rancher. Survivors include his sister, Viola Prine of Evadale.

Ouida Spears

Ouida Louise Spears, 65, of Buna, passed away Sunday December 31, 2017. She was born in Pensacola, Florida on December 5, 1952. She moved to Texas in 1968, and has lived here ever since. She loved all types of animals and rescued all that she could. She was an active member of Bon Ami Baptist Church in Kirbyville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She is preceded in death by her parents, Kennith and Gladys Sherman. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Jeffery Spears of Buna; daughters, Jennifer Colbert and husband, D. J. of Lincoln, Massachusetts, Wendi Stanley and husband, Todd of Buna, and Dorothy Spears of Vidor; grandchildren, Noah, Zoe, Aidan, and Alyssa; brother, Ken Sherman and wife, Margaret of Lake Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Farmer Funeral Home, officiated by Brother Elsey.

Wanda Moody

Wanda Marie Sanders Moody, 83, died at her home in Silsbee, Texas on January 1, 2018. Wanda was born on December 24, 1934 in Anacoco, Louisiana to Troy and Viola Sanders. Her family moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana where she was part of the 1953 Marion High School graduating class and attended Mc- Neese State University. After college, she worked for Mud Supply and KPLC TV before moving with her husband of 60 years, Will Moody, to Moss Bluff, Louisiana where she lived for the next 40 years. After investing in her children as a stay at home mom, she chose to work for the Calcasieu Parish Library System at the Moss Bluff Branch and continued there for 19 years.

Leroy Harris

Leroy Harris, 73, of Buna, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, January 3, 2018) at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following at Morse Cemetery in Buna. Born in Evadale and a lifelong resident of the area, he was a United States Air Force veteran and a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Local 450. Survivors include sons, Steven Harris of Buna and Gary Harris and wife Michelle of Kirbyville; daughter, Kimberly Darden and husband Henry of Trout Creek; brothers, Tony Harris of Evadale and Ben Harris of Silsbee; sisters, Jerry Pate, Winnie Harris and Peggy Peck, all of Buna and Joan Frizzell of Pasadena; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Lester Dee “Doc” Winger, 63, of Silsbee, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017. He was born in Silsbee. Funeral service was Saturday, December 30 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following in Knupple Cemetery, also in Silsbee. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Winger; children, Lester “Scooter” Winger and wife Amy of Silsbee, Heidi Gossett and husband Tim of Buna, Jimmy Luckie of Granbury and Beth Blanchard and husband Blake of Silsbee; brothers, Kenneth Wayne Riedinger and wife Mary and Larry Winger and wife Shirley, all of Silsbee; sister, Brenda Leviness and husband Roger of Silsbee; step siblings, Barbara Hawthorne and husband Terry of Houston and Earl Kirchhoff and Merle Kirchhoff and wife Janice, all of Silsbee; and six grandchildre.

Billy Grissom

Billy Truman Grissom, 78, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 in Lumberton. Funeral service was Thursday, December 28 at The Anchor of Beaumont in Beaumont with burial following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont under the direction of Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton. Born in Fred, he was a United States Army veteran, was employed by Bell Telephone as a lineman and retired from Mobil Chemical O/A in Beaumont in 1997 with 32 years service. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Elsie Mae Grissom; sons, Billy Michael Grissom and wife Denise of Vidor, David Wayne Grissom and wife Polly of Beaumont and Steven Glenn Grissom of Magnolia; brothers, James Grissom and wife Juanita and Raymond Grissom and wife Vivian, all of Fred and Thomas “Cobb” Grissom and wife Sandy of Pineland; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Patsy Collier

Patsy Gene Collier, 87, of Silsbee, passed away on January. 1, 2018. She was born on May 3, 1930, to Pierce and Naomia Perry. She was a graduate of Chenier Business College. She has been living in the Silsbee area since 1946. She was a member of the BBB of Silsbee, First United Methodist Church and Chamber of Commerce. She was preceded in death by brother, John Perry and sisters, Thelma McGee, Goldie Burleigh, Bess Wright and Edna Lemons. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, J. N. “Jay” Collier, III, of Silsbee; sons, Jesse Collier IV of Beaumont, and Perry A. Collier and wife Jodi of Eminence, Missouri, and grandsons, J. N. “Jay” Collier V of Beaumont, and Richard Wesley Collier of Houston. Memorial service to be held at a later date.

Henry Coe Jr.

Henry Allen Coe Jr., 92, of Kountze, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017. Funeral service was Wednesday, December 27 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial following at Hooks Cemetery, also in Kountze. Born in Kountze, he was a United States Army World War II veteran and a retired attorney. Survivors include daughters, Laura Coe of Pinehurst and Bebe Bertino and husband David of Nome; son, Henry Allen Coe III “Bugs” of Kountze; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
