Judy Rawls

Judy Lee “”Ju-Ju” Rawls, 66, of Silsbee, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Funeral service was Saturday, January 20 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. She was the manager at Jr. Food Mart in Silsbee. Survivors include daughter, Tammy Renee Harris and husband Richard of Silsbee; son, Gregory Allen Franklin Jr. of Silsbee; sister, Katie Ann Ruggles and husband Arthur of Silsbee; brother, Michael Andrew Rawls of Japser; and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Louvella Thomas, of Silsbee, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 27 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Silsbee with burial following in Kirby Cemetery in Silsbee under the direction of Proctor’s Mortuary, also in Silsbee. Patricia Rychlec

Sustained by her faith, Patricia Sullivan Rychlec, 58, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 15, 2018 in Westerly, Rhode Island. Patricia was born in Malden, Massachusetts to Patricia Grayson and Lawrence Sullivan. She was raised in Silsbee, Texas and attended Mass Maritime Academy, where she earned her degree in Marine Transportation. She worked for Electric Boat for 33 years before falling ill. She was heavily involved in a number of community groups, holding many posts at Dunn’s Corners Community Church Presbyterian (DCCCP), including serving as a leader to the Teen Team, and participating in the Westerly Relay for Life and Warm Shelter Penguin Plunge. Patricia enjoyed golf, reading, giving, sports, and adventures.

Patrick Albert Wallace, 75, of Lumberton, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service was Tuesday, January 23 at Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Lumberton under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont with burial following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Born in Pueblo, Colorado, he retired as owner and operator of Walson Inc. Equipment and Medical Supplies. Survivors include his wife, Donna Wallace; sons, Patrick Wallace and wife Nancy of McKinney, Jason Davis and wife Alysia of Sour Lake, Byron Wallace and wife Ellen of McKinney, Jeremy Davis of Beaumont, Ryan Wallace of Beaumont and Brian Wallace and wife Whitney of Buna; brother, Leo Wallace of Sierra Vista, Arizona; sister, Leonne Johnston of Fort Collins, Colorado; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Freeman

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Taylor Freeman was born April 14, 1946 in Silsbee, Texas. Her parents were Jewel and Mary Frances Nolan Taylor. She passed from this life on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Leesville, Louisiana. Elizabeth Ann grew up and completed High School in Silsbee. She was training to be a nurse’s aide when she dated and married SSG Phillip Freeman. Elizabeth was a military spouse from November 1970 to November 1984. She had a residence at: Ft. Hood, Texas; Schweinfurt, Germany; Ft. Knox, Kentucky; Mainz Germany; Ft. Polk, Louisiana; and Bamberg Germany. Her permanent residence has been Anacoco, Louisiana since 1985. She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Francis Carline Freeman; and her brother, Bobby Larry Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Phillip Freeman of Anacoco, Louisiana; son, Merle Jay Freeman of Lafayette, Louisiana; grandchildren, Ethan Freeman and Elizabeth Ava Freeman, both of Lafayette; brother, Joey E.

Ron Wilkins

Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Ronald Bryce Wilkins, age 66, died of natural causes at his alpine home in Bellevue, Colorado on Monday, January 15, 2017. Ron was born to Maxine and Bryce Wilkins on April 11, 1951 in Goodland, Kansas, just prior to the family relocating to Colorado to be closer to both his maternal and paternal grandparents. Ron spent a great deal of time with his grandparents and was influenced to a desire toward military service by his grandfather, Cecil Wilkins and a passion to ranching by his grandfather, Paul Brown. His formative years were spent in Hugo, Colorado where his parents published the Eastern Colorado Plainsman, then later moved to Mitchell, Nebraska to complete high school while working in his family business, The Index and also Scottsbluff Star-Herald. Ron graduated from Mitchell High School in 1969.

Josephine Barker

Josephine Marie Barker, 74, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in Silsbee. Josephine was born on May 25, 1943 in Refugio, Texas to Marie A. Hartmann and Patrick F. Walsh. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth T. Barker Sr. and her parents, as well as two of her siblings, Michael J. Walsh and Kathleen A. Ranly. Left to cherish her memory include her 5 children, Kenneth (Lee Ann) Barker Jr., Bruce Barker, Kevin (Angela) Barker, Deborah (Matthew) LePore and Melanie (Ben) Verde. She is also survived by two of her sisters; Theresa Johnson of Jasper and Rita Peck of Colorado; her 7 grandchildren, Matt, Wade, Kelley, Craig, Caitlyn, Cassie and Oren; and 5 great-grandchildren, Raelyn, Harlan, Hudson, Waylon and Kourtney. Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2018 with family present from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Celebration of Life began at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home of Aransas Pass, Texas.

Joe Neal Smith, 78, of Kountze, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at a Beaumont hospital. A memorial service was Saturday, January 13 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. He was a retired truck driver for Burrell Trucking in Evadale with 15 years service. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Priscilla Smith of Kountze; son, Stephen Scott Smith and wife Sabrina of Beaumont; and seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Richard McKinley Plake, 66, of Evadale, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018. Funeral service was Sunday, January 14 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following at Morse Cemetery in Buna. Born in Silsbee he was a retired self-employed welder and a member of Pipefitters Local 195. He was also a farrier, shoeing horses. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Evadale; sons, Cody Plake and wife Shana of Wylie and Colt Plake and wife Stephanie of Lumberton; and three grandchildren.
