Glenn McWilliams

Glenn Franklin McWilliams, Sr., 65, of Silsbee, died Sunday, April 9, 2017. He was born on April 13, 1951, in Port Arthur, to Frances Miller McWilliams and Harold McWilliams. Glenn had worked in the oil industry and was a Past Master of Silsbee Masonic Lodge, #927 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and a Past Patron of Silsbee Chapter, #298, Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include his wife, Deborah McWilliams; children, Glenn Franklin “Mac” McWilliams, Jr.

Teressa Acord

Funeral services for Teressa Gwen Acord, 58, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gene Eberle officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery. Ms. Acord was born July 21, 1958 in Dallas, Texas to the late Gwendolyn Lea (Bennett) and Ferrel Wayne Massey, and died Sunday, April 9, 2017 in a local hospital. Ms. Acord had resided in Lufkin for two years. She previously lived in Silsbee and was employed at Helena Laboratories in Beaumont for many years. Ms. Acord was a former member of the New Psalms Quartet and was very musically inclined. She loved to sing and could play piano by ear. Ms. Acord was of the Southern Baptist faith.

Elizabeth Findlater

Elizabeth S. “Betty” Findlater, 86, of Lumberton, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017. She was born in Cory, Pennsylvania. Funeral service was Saturday, April 1 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton with burial following at Fellowship Baptist Cemetery in Warren. Survivors include her children, Catherine Anderson of Lumberton, Douglas Findlater and wife Vickie of Sparta, Missouri and James Findlater and wife Cathy of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pat Leviness

Pat Ernest Leviness, 72, of Silsbee, passed away Friday, March 28, 2017 at his home. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at the Jones Building in Silsbee. Born in Zavalla and a longtime resident of Silsbee, he worked in the oilfield before retiring. Survivor include his daughters, Gwendolyn Haynes and husband Thomas of Silsbee and Sylvia Escobedo of Bastrop; brothers, Jimmy Leviness and wife Janette and Roger Leviness and wife Brenda, all of Silsbee; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Donnie DuBose

Donnie Ruth DuBose, 89, of Lumberton, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017. She was born in Zavalla. Funeral service was Monday, April 3 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Survivors include her children, David DuBose and wife Becky and Penny Ratcliff and husband Mike, all of Lumberton; and five grandchildren.

Herman McKee

Funeral services for Willie Herman McKee, 80, of Silsbee were at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Pinecrest Baptist Church under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home with interment following at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation was from 5:00 p,m, until 8:00 p,m, Monday at the funeral home. Mr. McKee passed away April 1 at his residence in Silsbee. Herman was born January 18, 1937 in Colmesneil to Jackson and Mary McKee and was a longtime resident of Silsbee. He retired as a supervisor from the paper mill and he served his country with the US Army. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Frances Richardson and grandson, Michael Storms.

Vicki Jasken

Victoria Ione Jasken (Vicki), 52 of Silsbee, Texas, passed away with family surrounding her on February 17th, 2017 at her brother’s home in Arizona. In late 2016, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Gastrointestinal Cancer, which began her hard fought battle. Vicki was born July 2nd, 1964 to Leander and Carley (LaDue) Jasken. She was raised in White Earth, Minnesota, and graduated in 1983 from Waubun High School. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota where she started her family. While there, Vicki opened a home daycare. During her daycare days, she grew very strong relationships with families and kept in contact with many over the years. Vicki moved her family to Texas in 2002. Although Vicki considered Texas her home, she never forgot her love for Minnesota football. She was a Viking fan at heart, and brought that love to Texas with her. She also was a huge Neal McCoy fan. She went to so many of his concerts, Neal knew her by name.

Jan McKinney

Evelyn Jeanette “Jan” McKinney, 81, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017. She was born on August 15, 1935, in Magnolia Springs, to Lucy Clark Monk and James Monk. Survivors include her children, Jim McKinney and his wife, Charlene, of Spurger; Jennifer Fallwell and her husband, Michael, of Lumberton; and Sonia Stokes and her husband, Walt, of Lubbock; grandchildren, Shane McKinney of Silsbee; Josh Elveston and his wife, Robyn, of Huffman; Jessica Istre and her husband, John, of Lumberton; and Abaigeal Pacas and her husband, Jason, of Jacksonville, Florida; great-grandchildren, Cameron McKinney, Corben McKinney, Nate Istre, Nicholas Istre, Nolan Istre, and Madeline Pacas; and brothers, Joe Monk and his wife, Eve, of Williamsburg, Virginia and Seidal Monk of Nederland. She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Lucy Hannah Elveston; and great-grandson, Nathaniel Cole McKinney. A gathering of Mrs. McKinney’s family and friends were from 5:00 p.m.

Mekayla Howard

Mekayla Victoria Burns Howard, 22, of Kountze, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017. She was born in Evanston, Wyoming. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee. Her interment will be announced at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, April 7 at the funeral home. Survivors include her father John Burns and his wife Sonia of Kountze; mother, Jeannie Howard and her husband Scott of North Dakota; siblings, Melinda Hacklin and husband Robert of Big Piney, Wyoming, Melissa Schaeffer of Dickinson, North Dakota, Jamie Chatman and husband Wesley of Logansport, Louisiana, Timothy Burns of Houston, and Kelsi Burns and Colin Burns, both of Kountze; and grandparents, Bonnie Skinner of Labarge, Wyoming and Barbara Seale of Rupert, Idaho.

Sylvester Kucera

Sylvester “Syl” Kucera, 90, of Lumberton, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at his home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 6 at Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Lumberton with burial following at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Kountze under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 5) at the funeral home. Born in Hungerford and a longtime resident of Beaumont and Lumberton, he retired from Texas Gulf Sulphur where he worked in the lab department. He was also a United States Army veteran. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Merle Kucera of Lumberton; children, Greg Kucera and wife Vicki of Hillister, Mark Kucera and wife Lois of Lumberton and Debbie Overstreet and husband Walter of Zavalla; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
