George Thomas Allen, Jr.

George Thomas Allen, Jr., 76, of Evadale, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018. He was born in Gadsden, Alabama on April 12, 1942. His family moved to Orange in 1957. George graduated from Orange Stark High School in 1960 where he was an outstanding athlete. George worked at the papermill in Evadale and retired in 2002 after 43 years of service. He was active in the community, serving on the school board, water co-op and the appraisal district. George was a strong proponent of the Evadale Volunteer Fire Dept. He never met a stranger. George will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. George is preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Grace Allen; son, Chad Allen; grandson, Blake Allen; and sister, Jackie Delahousey.

Betty Jo Wagstaff

Betty Jo Wagstaff, 86, of Silsbee, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont. Graveside service was held Wednesday, June 6 at Morse Cemetery in Buna under the direction of Faith & Family Funeral Home in Batson. A native of Evadale, she had lived in Silsbee most of her life and was a caregiver. Survivors include her sons, Johnny Paul Wagstaff and wife Amy of Silsbee, Virgil Lynn Richardson of Splendora and Larry Glenn Wagstaff and wife Carrie of Silsbee; daughters, Belinda Gayle Muntz Foster and JoAnn Westfall, both of Beaumont; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James Leon Burdette

James Leon Burdette, 76, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018 at his home. Funeral service was Monday, June 18 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger. He was an oil field roughneck, retiring in 1990. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Debora; children, James E. “Gene” Burdette and wife Stacey, Patsy Johnson and Amy Hoke and husband Mike, all of Silsbee, Ashley Gore and husband Matthew of Colorado City, Texas, Allison Burdette of Port Neches, and Tara Powell and husband Brandon of Adams, Tennessee; and 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Marilyn Winnell Vance, 77, of Silsbee, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at a Beaumont hospital. Survivors include her children, Billy Vance and wife Veronica of Silsbee, Dana Rowland of Lumberton, and Jacob Paul Vance and wife Danielle of East Rutherford, New Jersey; sister, Annie Lue Mercer and husband Bob of Grayson, Louisiana; and six grandchildren and seven grandchildren. Upon her request, a funeral service was not held.

Doris Mudd Haney, 86, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Pine Arbor Health Nursing Home in Silsbee. Funeral service was Friday, June 15 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont with burial following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, also in Beaumont. Survivors include her daughter, Doris Davenport and husband Ken of Lumberton; son, Sam Haney and wife Rhonda of Beaumont; and three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

Samuel Howard Denmon, 74, of Kountze, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018. He was born in Evadale. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23 at Denmon Cemetery in Buna under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Silsbee. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. the day of service at the funeral home. Survivors include his children, Stacy Denmon and wife Darla of Cedar Hill, Eric Lee Denmon and wife Melissa of Richmond, Virginia and Teresa Ann Hoffman of Silsbee; sisters, Mary Ellen Swinney of Silsbee, Lavern Elliott of Jasper, Joyce Fay Clark of Vidor and Goldie Winger of Silsbee; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

John Jefferson Collins Sr.

John Jefferson Collins Sr., 62, of Silsbee, passed away Friday, June 1, 2018. Born on May 18, 1956 to Jesse and Jerry Collins in Silsbee, John retired from the U.S. Marine Corp where he served his country faithfully and honorably. John loved to fish, however, according to family members, he didn't catch much, but he loved to fish. John was loved by so many people, he will be missed each and everyday. John is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Iris Langston Collins of Silsbee; sons, Shawn Langston and wife, Jeanette of St. George, Utah, John Collins II of Roswell, Georgia, and Tim Collins of Washington, D.C.; daughter, Chasity Bryce and husband, Jesse of Austin; four grandchildren, Sydney and Westen Bryce of Austin and Grady and Daylin Langston of St. George, Utah. "I will always love you sweetheart, and will see you again one day, until then, Semper Fi." Services for John Jefferson Collins Sr. were private.

Gloria Ann Boneaux, 77, of Groves, Texas passed away June 11, 2018. She was born in Silsbee, Texas on October 23, 1940 to the late Rene Trahan and Gladys Ruth Moore Trahan. Gloria is survived by her husband of 37 years, Raymond Boneaux of Groves; her son, Rusty Hargrove and his wife, Sonya of Newport, Washington; his daughters, Terry Collier and her husband, Padgett of Silsbee, and Debra Roberts and her husband, Andy of Astoria, Oregon; 8 grandchildren; and 7 greatgrandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Tommy Trahan and Pat Trahan. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with Father J. C. Coon officiating.

Coleman Memorial Mortuary in Silsbee with burial following at Hickory Grove Cemetery, also in Silsbee. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. the day of service at the mortuary. Survivors include his daughter, Veretta King of Lufkin; son, Keno King of San Antonio; sisters, Ella Mae King and Gladys Burton, both of San Antonio; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
