By Danny Renee

Brett Treadway, a 2012 graduate of Silsbee High School, agreed to a free agent contract with the San Francisco 49’ers immediately after the NFL Draft Saturday evening.

“It’s an awesome feeling,” Treadway said in a release by Lamar University. “This has been my dream since I can remember. I’ve always had to put in extra work since I’m undersized. I was undersized in high school and college but it’s a great feeling to see that hard work pay off.”

Whitted tosses a one-hitter versus LCM

By Bob Parish

Right hander Noah Whitted tossed a shutout against the visiting Bears on Friday night. His second straight scoreless outing sets the tone for the Tigers game next week against the WOS Mustangs who lead the District 22-4A standings by one game over the Tigers.

The Bears challenged early in the first inning, loading the bases after an error, walk and hit batter. Then Whitted buckled down and struck out the final batter to end the inning. In the bottom of the first, Paxton Bryan got on base, then stole second and scored on an infield single by Chase Partain. Partain, the Tiger shortstop would later score on a wild pitch by Bear lefthanded pitcher Slade Green. The scoreboard read Tigers two and Bears zero at the end of one inning.
