Silsbee punishes Coldspring in lopsided win

By Daniel Elizondo

The Silsbee Tigers weren’t about to let a thrashing from a season ago be the limelight for the Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans this year.

Silsbee (2-0) capitalized on all phases of its game and dominated a frustrated Trojan team 60-22 in Coldspring.

Despite a rash of penalties to open the game, it didn’t seem to slow down the powerful offense the Tigers possess this season.

Silsbee committed three penalites on its first drive of the game, but managed to take a 16-0 lead with 7:26 in the first quarter thanks in part to special teams play.

Big plays lift Silsbee over Lumberton

Tigers’ defense stiffens in second series of controlled scrimmage.

By Daniel Elizondo

A lot of questions were being asked during the offseason for the Silsbee Tigers after a sub-par season last year.

After weathering the storm with the loss of a heavy senior class, that inexperience has turned to experience this year, and the signs of an improved team showed in its first scrimmage of the 2015 season.

Silsbee set out to prove its worth after two weeks of prep work already under its belt, and faced Lumberton at Raider Stadium for the first contact of the year.
