Tigers get victories over Bridge City, WO-S

Silsbee in first place in 22-4A

The Silsbee Tigers ran their district record to 5-0 with a pair of District 22-4A wins over West Orange-Stark and Bridge City last week.

The Tigers beat BC, 95-52, and handed WO-S an 81-69 loss on the road

On Jan. 26, the Tigers hosted the Bridge City Cardinals. The Cards were at a huge disadvantage in size and experience but they answered the bell and played the Tigers tough during the opening minutes.

Lady Tigers rout LC-M by 50

The Silsbee Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Bears, 47- 14 in the second half in a 77- 27 win at home in 22-4A play on Jan. 19.

Silsbee built a double-digit lead early, 17-7, and went into intermission with a 32-13 margin.

The Lady Tigers exploded for 23 and 22 points in the third and fourth periods, respectively.

Emery Maze tallied a gamehigh 19 for the Lady Tigers, while Akira Ray and Brandis Bass netted 10 each.

Tigers tame Bears, remain perfect in 22-4A play

LITTLE CYPRESS — The Silsbee Tigers returned to Little Cypress-Mauriceville on Jan. 19 to hand the Bears their first District 22-4A loss of the season.

The Tigers remain undefeated in district play.

The defending Class 4A champs posted 75-56 win on Jan. 19 as Jordyn Adams popped in a game-high 24 for the Tigers.

Lady Tigers beat Orangefield, Bridge City for 22-4A wins

ORANGEFIELD — The Silsbee Lady Tigers improved to 3-0 in District 22- 4A with a 61-51 win over the Orangefield Lady Bobcats on Jan. 12.

Emery Maze scored five of her team-high 16 points in the first period as Silsbee took a 14-6 lead.

Dakota Matthews popped in seven in the second to help give the Lady Tigers a 28-17 margin at halftime.

Tigers whip Orangefield in 22-4A opener

The Silsbee Tigers opened up District 22-4A action with an 87-62 win over the Orangefield Bobcats at home on Jan. 12.

Tiger coach Joe Sigler put a unique lineup on the court to start the game. He started Kalon Barnes, Adonis Thomas, Trey Lowe, Chris Martin and Decolby Jones.

The Tigers jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the first four minutes of the game as Martin tallied five points. The Bobcats only points were a three-point basket.

Kountze boys, girls claim 23-3A wins

Both teams spotless in district play

KOUNTZE — The Kountze Lions improved their District 23-3A mark to 3-0 with wins over Warren and Hardin last week.

On Jan. 5, the Lions defeated Warren, 79-36.

Jeremiah Barker and Dante Carey drilled in a pair of three-pointers as the Lions tallied 18 points in the first period for an 18-4 margin. The Warriors had trouble getting the ball up court against the Lions’ full-court press.

Highlanders nip Tigers, 67-63

THE WOODLANDS — The Silsbee Tigers played poor defense as Class 6A The Woodland pulled off a 67-63 non-district win at home on Jan 2.

Silsbee seemed slow to get out on defense which allowed the Highlanders to popped in nine three-point baskets — most were uncontested.

Both teams started off the game slowly with The Woodlands hitting a pair of threes for a 10-4 margin. Jordyn Adam’s three-pointer in the final second of the first period tied the game, 10-10.

Lady Tigers beat Hudson at home

Dakota Matthews scored a game-high 21 as the Silsbee Lady Tigers posted a 77-42 home win over Hudson in non-district action on Jan. 2.

Matthews, who had seven points in the first half, scored 14 in the second half — including a pair of three-point buckets.

The Lady Tigers built a 12-4 lead at the end of the first inning, then outscored Hudson, 23-11, in the second for a 35-15 margin at halftime.

Tigers record 2-1 mark at Coca-Cola Classic

DALLAS — The Silsbee Tigers posted a 2-1 mark at the annual Dallas ISD Coca- Cola Classic on Dec. 27-29.

The Tigers started off with a convincing 78-39 win over Class 6A Dallas Adamson. Silsbee opened up the game with a 25-0 run and finished the opening period ahead, 25-6.

Dallas Adamson was unable to catch up as the Tigers went into intermission with a 32-point lead.

Brealon Bush hit a team-high 15 markers, while Kalon Barnes netted 13 with 10 rebounds and four blocked shots.

Silsbee holds off Lady Raiders’ late rally for win

LUMBERTON — The Silsbee Lady Tigers defeated the Lumberton Lady Raiders, 99- 93, in non-district action on Dec. 19.

The game started out like a house on fire but ended up in a shootout.

Megan Wilkinson and Kayden Morris combined for 29 points as the Lady Raiders held a 31-29 lead at the end of the opening period. Wilkinson hit 19 and Morris had 10.
