Tigers blast past regional foes by wide margins

The Silsbee Tigers have opened their season with a wide variety of opponents. They have faced the no. 2 3A team in the state and the No. 1 6A team in the state as well as many other ranked opponents. Two things that all 14 foes have in common is that all of the games were played on the road and each team knew they had been in a battle before the final buzzer.

Lady Tigers claim Kim Albers Classic championship

The Silsbee Lady Tigers were more than ready to face its nemesis from a season ago in the championship game of the Kim Albers Classic at Silsbee High School on Saturday. Silsbee (6-5) cruised in its two consecutive games to enter the championship game and face Cleveland, a team that defeated the Lady Tigers a season ago in the class 4A regional quarterfinals.

Silsbee girls advance in tournament

The Silsbee Lady Tigers cruised to a 62-43 win over Liberty on Thursday to advance to the championship bracket in the Kim Albers Classic.

Silsbee led 18-11 after the first period before stretching its lead to 20 at the half. Liberty never threatened after that.

Silsbee will face Hamshire-Fannett on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the primary gym at Silsbee High School.

Hamshire-Fannett defeated Huffman-Hargrave 53-47 in the morning to advance and face Port Neches-Groves. The Lady Longhorns defeated PNG 34-32 in a squeaker.

Hitchcock defeated Buna 33-27 and then defeated Bridge City 55-38 later in the afternoon.

Hitchcock will face Cleveland at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday as well.

Cleveland downed Evadale 57-43 in its opener.

In the consolation bracket, Evadale defeated Buna 42-34 and Liberty defeated Huffman-Hargrave 46-30.

EHS Boys win Championship

The Evadale Rebel boys basketball team won the championship of the 58th Annual Evadale tournament with an impressive 89-74 victory over Jasper. The unbeaten Rebels were dominating though the tournament. In the first game of the tournament, they defeated Chireno by an 81-73 score.

Tigers win consolation bracket at South San Antonio tourney

The Silsbee Tigers won the consolation bracket of the 32- team South San Antonio tournament leaving coach Joe Sigler excited and optimistic about the future. He stated, “We could have won the whole thing.” Silsbee actually had a chance to play the eventual champion in the first round. The big tournament draws teams from all over the state and Silsbee claimed victories over four of them.

Tigers win over top rated TAPPS clubs

Silsbee drops Houston Christian and Westbury Christian
 
The Silsbee Tigers boys basketball team opened their season with a pair of games in the Hoopsgiving Classic and the Thanksgiving Jamboree.
 
The Tigers took on Houston Christian at Texas Southern University in the Hoopsgiving Classic and then they made an appearance in the Saturday night session against Westbury Christian in the Thanksgiving Jamboree.

The Kountze Lions dropped a 91-75 decision to Beaumont Central in the Fred Williams classic on Friday evening.
 
The Lions went into the game with only eight players.

Volleyball All-District 22-4A team announced

Five Silsbee Lady Tigers were named to the 22-4A All- District team released recently. Seniors Mallorie Brooks and Symone Carmenar received superlative honors including District MVP and Outstanding Middle Hitter respectively.

Rebels fall to Maud in area round

The Evadale Rebels travelled to Tatum to take on a Maud squad that ended their season last year and this year the Rebels found the test had the same ending as Maud claimed a 55-28 victory over the Rebels. The game was played on a very cold field. All season the Rebels have walked onto the field with the ability to physically dominate their opponents. They ended regular season with a record of 9-1 and then won their Bi-District game.
