Lumberton ISD announces lone finalist for superintendent
LUMBERTON — Lumberton ISD officials announced their lone finalist as superintendent.
Dr. Tony Tipton was named to replace Dr. Gerald Chandler to head the school district. Chandler announced his resignation in March.
Tipton was serving as executive director of Innovation in Little Elm ISD, a fast-growth district in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
According to a LISD press release, Tipton has held a wide variety of unique district-level leadership roles including Career and Technical Education, marketing, communications, strategic partnerships, innovative programming, college-career readiness, and digital learning. Tipton currently also heads a variety of leadership development programs and special assignment projects for Little Elm ISD.
"I am so excited to join the Lumberton ISD family. I felt a strong connection with the Board of Trustees from the first time we met and I am thrilled to have this opportunity,” said Tipton. “I can’t wait to get to know the community and start building lasting relationships with everyone in Lumberton.
