From Sandwich Generation to Panini Generation: How Pressures Have Increased on Family Caregivers

Today’s sandwich generation is pressed between the weight of their responsibilities: caring for aging parents while raising children in the midst of ever-changing economic and societal shifts. As the average life expectancy continues to increase, and families wait longer to have children, the demand on those caring for generations on either side of them only intensifies. As these pressures continue to weigh heavier on these caregivers, those in the sandwich generation feel more like a panini – pressed between two piping hot grill plates. And most don’t know where to turn for support.

Event Center Hosts Vendor Mall

Lumberton- Magnolia Lane, a small event center in Lumberton, held a vendor mall on Saturday, August 20. There were 14 vendors on hand to sell items such as homemade pens and artisan candles.

Tiger Prowl Returns

AFter a two-year hiatus due to COVID pandemic conditions, the popular homecoming tradition known as Tiger Prowl returns to the Homecoming 2022 lineup of activities. Tiger Prowl, organized by Silsbee downtown Revitalization, kicks off immediately after the homecoming parade in downtown Silsbee. Streets will be closed around th epublic library to accommodate scores of vendors offering food, soft drinks, shaved ice, clothing, jewelry, art, and other merchandise. Activities include bounce house for children as well as a mechanical bull for adults. Various notable citizens will be in the dunking booth challenging everyone to make them fall into the water.

Lumberton Resident Writes Children’s Book

Angel Turner, of Lumberton, was on hand at Magnolia Lane on Saturday to promote her book, Noises in the Wall. In the children’s book, Turner uses bee characters to teach children about the beatitudes and the fruits of the Spirit.
