Lumberton set to hire BEAM staff members

Lumberton ISD administration recently announced the intention to hire a significant number of new staff members dedicated to assisting students with behavior issues, social-emotional learning, and mental health needs. The additional staff, according to Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Igor Gusyakov, “is being recommended after a Comprehensive Needs Assessment Review including a wide variety of LISD campus and district stakeholders.” Gusyakov continued with, “Lumberton ISD has seen a net gain of 96 special needs students in our district in the past two school years. Plus, we’ve been experiencing a steady increase in the number of referrals for special education services and other behavioral mental health needs.”

Hardin County election results

Hardin Country did not have any local races during the 2022 election but 10,366 people voted during the early voting period. Another 571 voted in the absentee phase and 8,592 people went to the polls on election day to cast their ballot.

Murder suspected arrested

The Hardin County Sheriff’s office arrested Lindsey Joseph Bertrand III, 44, from Silsbee on a charge of murder on November 7th. The Sheriff’s department was called to the 2600 block of Pine Park drive, north of Silsbee, for a verbal disturbance. When authorities arrived on the scene they found Joseph Paul Russell III, 39, of Silsbee suffering from a gunshot wound.
