Back in the day (1988 I think), someone went to all of the businesses and sold Silsbee Tiger flags. I bought one for the Silsbee Bee, and most of the other businesses bought one, as well.

Village Creek 4-H takes home honors at Hardin County Youth Project Show

KOUNTZE - The Village Creek 4-H club participated last week in the Hardin County Youth Project Show in Kountze. The following received awards: Weston Tucker- 1st in class for picture Haden Fenter- 1st in class for picture Abel Lucas- 1st class for picture in two classes Camden Wade- Reserve Champion for turtle candies, 3rd in class for pie Sarah Langston- 2nd in class for pie, Showmanship winner for pig and goat, Reserve champion for goat Alice Merritt- 1st in class for bee, 2nd in class for craft, 3rd in class for picture and 6th in class for breeding rabbit Jennifer Goodman- 1st and 3rd in class for bread, 2nd in class for picture and 3rd in class for steer John Davenport- 1st in class for all three of his photos and 4th in class for breeding heifer Emma Davenport- 3rd in class for craft, 1st in class for canning and reserve champion for British breeding heifer Logan Branch- Grand Champion steer, showmanship with steer and Grand Champion exotic breeding heifer Brooke Brinkley- Reserve Champion pig, showmanship for pig Gavin Little Paige- 3rd for breeding rabbit Kaylee Waldrp— 6th in class for both of her breeding rabbits Plus, the Davenport family received buckle for Salesman of the year for all of their sponsorship sales..

Students participate in Fire Prevention Week

SILSBEE - For the week of October 10 - 14, students at Laura Reeves Primary participated in Fire Prevention and Safety. Teachers did a wonderful job with in classroom discussion about fire prevention and safety. Then on Friday, October 14, District Chief Danny Tarkington and Chaplain Mark Seagrest visited the campus with a fire truck in tow.

Twirler brings back tradition to Silsbee

For about two decades, Silsbee ISD has not seen a twirler on the field under the Friday Night Lights, but one performance from a 6th grade student at Edwards- Johnson Memorial Silsbee Middle School could be the spark the district needs to reignite the passion for twirling.
