SISD board president running for state rep

Janis Holt, who has been Silsbee school board president since May of 2022 and a school board member since 2014, has announced her intentions to run for state representative. She will be a candidate for District 18, the seat now held by Ernest Bailes of Shepherd, in the March 5, 2024 Republican Primary.

Council OKs street closures for two events in October

The Silsbee City Council met in regular session Monday night and approved street closures for two events in October. The council approved street closures in downtown Silsbee for the Silsbee Pines Event Center (Save the Pines project), from 3 p.m.
