Church will note 123rd anniversary

The First Missionary Baptist Church, located at 625 N. Second Street in Silsbee, will celebrate its 123rd anniversary with a special service at 3 p.m.

Silsbee council oks bids for 2 projects

The Silsbee City Council Monday night approved bids for two projects, including one for the Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project and another for roof repairs on city hall. Texas Pride Utilities was the low bidder for the Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation.

One hurt as several shots fired at party

One person was taken by ambulance to a Beaumont hospital after several shots were fired at a party in the 300 block of South 14th Street in Silsbee last Friday night. Silsbee Police Chief Shawn Blackwell said police responded to a call at 11:28 p.m.

Cheyenne Cooley named state FFA Vice President

Cooley’s remarkable achievement as Vice President of the Texas FFA Association is akin to winning a state football championship, according to Courtney Champagne, Silsbee High School’s esteemed lead instructor for Agriculture Science.
