One person was taken by ambulance to a Beaumont hospital after several shots were fired at a party in the 300 block of South 14th Street in Silsbee last Friday night. Silsbee Police Chief Shawn Blackwell said police responded to a call at 11:28 p.m.

The historic Kirby Hill House in Kountze was the perfect location last Friday for the Big Thicket Art, History and Literacy Social. The event served as a time to recognize winners in the Kountze Summer Reading Program competitions and also to honor volunteers.
