THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – Entergy Texas is prepared for hurricane season starting June 1, and customers should be ready, too. At a time when weather is impacting our region with increased strength and frequency, the National Hurricane Center predicts potentially significant threats to our area this season.

Armed security officer training will be offered

CHRISTUS - Southeast Texas Health System will hold a free Level III Armed Security Officer Training Program for those interested in pursuing a security career in a health care setting. This is the only Level III training program offered in the region.

The Lumberton Summer Reading Program (SRP) got off to a big start on Saturday as several hundred kids, along with their parents, came for a kickoff party behind the Trent Center next door to the library.

Friends of Kountze Public Library will feature author Hal Evans, a Silsbee native, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at the County Seat Music Hall directly across from the library. The multitalented educator has garnered awards for his work.

The Silsbee Visitor Center is planning to have an ice skating rink available for both children and adults at the annual Christmas in the Big Thicket event scheduled for Dec. 2, 2023.

Two former Silbee Tigers baseball players have been playing in two separate college World Series games within the last few days. They are Jackson Hardy, who has been playing with the Angelo State University Rams for the past five years, and Kanon Sundgren, who plays for Weatherford College, a junior college west of Fort Worth.

Silsbee Library kicks off Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program at the Silsbee Library began Monday and will continue through July 28 for all kids up to 15 years old. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the library will offer crafts and story time.
