The Silsbee Woman’s Club won several state awards at the 126th Annual Convention of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC-Texas) April 27—29 in Denton Texas. The Silsbee Woman’s Club, member of the Magnolia District, won four first place awards two second place awards and a Gold Star Award.

Kountze police arrest six after church burglary probe

An investigation by Kountze police last week led not only to suspects in the burglary of an abandoned church, but also suspects in other crimes as well. Kountze Police Chief Brent Slaughter said two men and a woman were arrested on charges which included burglary of a building, and engaging in organized criminal activity, while three others were arrested only on charges of abandoning or endangering a child and possession of a controlled substance.
