Lady Tigerts recieve All-District Honors

The Silsbee Tigers baseball season ended when they dropped back to back games to Spring Hill in the area round of the 4A Baseball playoffs. The two teams played in Lufkin Thursday and Silsbee was defeated by a 5-2 score.

Man is given life term for child sexual abuse

A Hardin County jury found a 68-yearold man guilty in four cases of sexual child abuse and sentenced him to life in prison for continual sexual abuse of a child last week. Charles Philip Hatton, a former employee of the Kountze Independent School District, had been indicted earlier by a Hardin County grand jury.

McArthur, Morrisey named to be on SHS Wall of Honor

The Silsbee High School Wall of Honor Committee met Tuesday and voted to select William Morrisey and Darrell McArthur for membership in the Wall of Honor. McArthur who graduated in 1986 is a McDonald’s All American basketball player who later attended the University of Houston.

Silsbee Woman’s Club wins several GFWC-Texas awards

The Silsbee Woman’s Club won several state awards at the 126th Annual Convention of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC-Texas) April 27—29 in Denton Texas. The Silsbee Woman’s Club, member of the Magnolia District, won four first place awards two second place awards and a Gold Star Award.
