Silsbee High School Choir wins Sweepstakes

The Silsbee High School Choir has a lot to be proud of in their latest triumph. The talented group of students achieved a monumental feat by earning Sweepstakes in Mixed Choir at the UIL Concert/Sight Reading competition.

County marker unveiled for historic black cemetery

Members of the Hardin County Historical Commission and others met last Thursday afternoon for a ceremony unveiling and dedication of a county historical marker for the Grayburg Black Cemetery, The marker, located at 17762 Grayburg Road near Sour Lake, is actually about a quarter mile away from the cemetery itself, which is down a narrow rough road through a pasture and in a wooded area.

2 Tigers win prestigious Willie Ray Smith Award

Two Silsbee players were honored as winners with the prestigious Willie Ray Smith Award at a banquet at the Elagante Hotel in Beaumont Monday evening. This was the second time ever two different players from the same school were chosen for the 31st annual Willie Ray Smith Award.

Three get scholarships from Sour Lake Lions

Sour Lake Lions wish to congratulate three Hardin Jefferson graduates- Elijah Nichols, William Benoit, and Clara Robertson. Each of these outstanding students will be awarded a $1000 scholarship to be applied to future study at a university. Area Lions wish success to these young adults as they use additional education opportunities to prepare for the next phase of their lives and their future careers.
