Lumberton ISD held its second Safety & Security Town Hall meeting on school safety and preparedness. There are a lot of aspects to the safety and security issue.

The Resthaven Cemetery Care Association is making its annual appeal for financial support. The care of the cemetery, which has been in Silsbee for more than 100 years, is largely supported through financial donations and volunteer labor.

The Silsbee City Council met in a very short meeting Monday and voted to approve a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Silsbee authorizing the Silsbee Economic Development Corporation to provide financial assistance to Lori Matthews DBA LoLo’s Snow Co. and Eatery in the total amount of $25,000.

The Hardin County Commissioners met Tuesday, Jan. 30 for a special meeting and gave approval of a request by ReJena Bolton, the county Health inspector to submit an application for the Walmart Community Grant in the amount of $4,000 for the Christmas tree Lighting event in December.

Kountze ISD is seeking public comment on their six month review of their ESSER Spending Plan and Continuity of Services Plan. The Silsbee Tigers held its annual banquet on Saturday and during the event they honored the 2013 baseball team. Coach Michale Nelson described them as the, “Greatest team to ever play for Silsbee High School.”

Silsbee Police Chief Sean Blackwell presented the following report to the Silsbee City Council on racial profiling. It stated, “On Thursday, January 19th I was able to submit the Silsbee Police Department annual Racial Profiling Report. Along with submitting the data, it must be noted that the Silsbee Police Department filed a full report with the state attesting that we have in place a policy that clearly defines acts that constitute racial profiling and that the policy strictly prohibits peace officers employed by this agency from engaging in racial profiling.

The Silsbee City Council met Monday for a meeting that was delayed approximately 15 minutes until enoughcouncilmenarrived to complete a quorum. One of the critical items came up during the hearing of visitors.
