Silsbee City Council approves SEDC agreement

The Silsbee City Council met in a very short meeting Monday and voted to approve a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Silsbee authorizing the Silsbee Economic Development Corporation to provide financial assistance to Lori Matthews DBA LoLo’s Snow Co. and Eatery in the total amount of $25,000.

Hardin County Commissioners approve requests, grant funding

The Hardin County Commissioners met Tuesday, Jan. 30 for a special meeting and gave approval of a request by ReJena Bolton, the county Health inspector to submit an application for the Walmart Community Grant in the amount of $4,000 for the Christmas tree Lighting event in December.

Kountze ISD seeks public comment

Kountze ISD is seeking public comment on their six month review of their ESSER Spending Plan and Continuity of Services Plan. If there are any comments on the plans for the upcoming 6 month review, please contact James Stevenson, Assistant Superintendent via email at jstevenson@kountzeisd.org. Opportunity for input can also be heard at the Kountze ISD School Board Meeting scheduled for Monday, February 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the Kountze Intermediate School Library.

Tigers’ 2013 baseball team honored at banquet

The Silsbee Tigers held its annual banquet on Saturday and during the event they honored the 2013 baseball team. Coach Michale Nelson described them as the, “Greatest team to ever play for Silsbee High School.”

Silsbee Police present its 2022 racial profiling report to the city council

Silsbee Police Chief Sean Blackwell presented the following report to the Silsbee City Council on racial profiling. It stated, “On Thursday, January 19th I was able to submit the Silsbee Police Department annual Racial Profiling Report. Along with submitting the data, it must be noted that the Silsbee Police Department filed a full report with the state attesting that we have in place a policy that clearly defines acts that constitute racial profiling and that the policy strictly prohibits peace officers employed by this agency from engaging in racial profiling.
