The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas has the oldest reservation in the state and it is located on approximately 10,200 acres in the Big Thicket of Deep East Texas.

On Friday, November 18, 2022, at about 9:02 PM, Officer W. Tyler with the Silsbee Police Department was patrolling around the area of McDonalds when he heard a loud commotion. When Officer Tyler pulled into the parking lot to investigate the disturbance, a male, later identified as 28-year-old Elisha McMahon of Silsbee, took off running on foot. Officer Tyler pursued McMahon, caught him, and placed him under arrest.
