Silsbee retains police chief

A 4-1 vote by the Silsbee City Council on Monday approved a pay raise to keep Police Chief Waylan Rhodes, who has held the position for four and a half months.

Rhodes, who assumed duties in early January with a salary of $72,000 plus city employee benefits, tendered his resignation two weeks ago after he was approved to become the police chief in Cameron for the same amount of money.
