Construction of new annex set to begin

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Monday for the construction of a new Hardin County annex building to be constructed on a lot opposite of the Hardin County Courthouse in Kountze. The new construction will cover 10,000 square feet and is expected to begin on January 2 by Daniels Construction located at the corner of West Vaughn Street and Redwood Street in Kountze.

Lady Tigers claim Kim Albers Classic championship

The Silsbee Lady Tigers were more than ready to face its nemesis from a season ago in the championship game of the Kim Albers Classic at Silsbee High School on Saturday. Silsbee (6-5) cruised in its two consecutive games to enter the championship game and face Cleveland, a team that defeated the Lady Tigers a season ago in the class 4A regional quarterfinals.

McCarty celebrates 90th birthday

Barbara McCarty of Silsbee, recently celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends. The celebration began with Mass at St. Mark Catholic Church in Silsbee with a dinner in the Parish Hall afterwards.

Silsbee High School students participated in a Veterans Day program honoring all veterans including locals on Thursday, Nov. 10. The program is an annual event with student participation each year that is headed by staff.
