Stallworth, James honored on Friday

LaQuan Stallworth and Stephen James were honored on Friday on two occasions as both were inducted into the Silsbee Wall of Honor. Stallworth was a 1995 graduate of Silsbee High School and starred for the Silsbee Lady Tigers basketball team under former Head Coach Kim Albers.

Longtime Silsbee educator leaves lastingmemory

Longtime Silsbee educator and elementary principal Robbie Reeves, 55, lost her battle to illness early Monday morning according to Silsbee ISD Superintendent Richard Bain. Reeves had been battling cancer before succumbing this week from complications of the disease.

Longtime Kirby Elementary Principal Robbie Reeves lost her battle to cancer on Monday, leaving many heartbroken at Silsbee ISD. Kirby staff members organized a “Mini Relay For Life” for Reeves two years in a row, including the first in 2014 when she walked with fellow students.

County officials and citizens gathered at the flag pole of the Hardin County Courthouse on Monday, for a prayer service for France and its recent tragedy involving terrorism. Texas Governor Greg Abbott called for the prayer service at 12 p.m. on Monday across the state.

Raiders fall to Crosby 42-14

The Lumberton Raiders football season ended Friday when they met Crosby which has one of the top rated 5A squads in the state. The Raiders fell behind 21- 0 in the first quarter when Craig Williams scored two touchdowns for Crosby and Trevian Edwards caught a pass for 32 yards for a touchdown.

State Representative James White was appointed by House Speaker Joe Straus to serve on the House Select Committee on Mental Health. This committee will take a wideranging look at the state's behavioral health system for Texas children and adults.

Kountze’s Penland Middle School students entered the Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest. Zoey Helgda submitted the winning poster titled “Peace Shared Through the World”. Her winning poster will be submitted to District 2S1 Lions Club for judging.
