The Hardin County Historical Commission had a dedication ceremony for its new flagpole at the museum last Thursday, and dedicated it in honor of Glen Cook, Julie McDaniel, secretary treasurer of commission, said, “Glen has been at the museum since the museum was a concept. He helped renovate the old bank building so that it could be used as a museum. He has been there greater than ten years. His main duties are any work that needs to be done. Glen fixes or repairs anything that goes wrong.”

Playground equipment, feeding stray animals tabled by council

The Silsbee City Council met in regular session Monday, March 18, to discuss a variety of agenda topics. One of the items tabled was the acquisition of new playground equipment for 21st Street park. They voted to table a proposal to accept the budget for the new equipment which will range between $89,000 and $132,000 depending on what bid the council accepts. The council will consider finalizing an agreement on which equipment to use and attempt to approve the item in their regular meeting.

Also at the meeting, Vic Miller, teacher for the UIL State Champion Robotics team, presented an exciting look on the future of this program.
