Herbert Charles Muckleroy, 88, of Silsbee, died Thursday, May 14, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 22, 1931, in Pelly, to Willie Lambert Muckleroy and Henry Albert “Sye” Muckleroy.
Mr. Muckleroy served his country in the United States Army and later retired from Silsbee Independent School District where he was a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent. He is inducted into the Letterman Hall of Fame at Sam Houston State University. He was also the 1998 Silsbee Citizen of the Year and served as Mayor of Silsbee for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kathrine Muckleroy; sons, Mark Muckleroy and his wife, Emily and Don Muckleroy and his wife, Becky, all of Silsbee; sister, Kelly Muckleroy Hamilton of Silsbee; brother, Robbie Muckleroy and his wife, Joyce, of Harper; granddaughters, Danielle Muckleroy Webmeyer and her husband, Mark, of Silsbee and Lauren Barron and her husband, Brandon, of Webster Groves, Missouri; grandsons, Matthew Muckleroy of Lumberton and David Muckleroy of Silsbee; and great-grandchildren, Grayson and Grant Wehmeyer, both of Silsbee, Aria and Bryce Barron of Webster Grove, Missouri, and Kinsley and Kyla Muckleroy of Lumberton.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Hurshel Muckleroy.
A gathering of Mr. Muckleroy’s family and friends was held, Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service was 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2020, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Resthaven Cemetery, Silsbee.
