Missionary Mary Jo Elam, 66, of Silsbee, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, September 8 at New Hope Church of God in Christ in Silsbee under the direction of Robinson Funeral Home.
She grew up in Bon Weir – San Jack Community and later moved to Silsbee where she attended and graduated from Silsbee High School in 1971. She was First Lady and Co-Founder of New Hope Church of God in Christ in Silsbee. She was an ordained Evangelist Missionary of The Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include sons, Calvin Tyler Sr. (Shuronda) of Beaumont, Delton Elam Jr. (Angela) and Terrance Elam Sr. (Shameca), both of Silsbee and Joshua Elam (Maranda) of Euless; daughters, Latina Martindale (Dwayne) and Zenaida Foster (Larry), both of Silsbee and Gwendolyn Hall (Royston) of Spring; brothers, Carl J.D. Tyler Jr. (Rosalyn) of Beaumont, and Thomas Tyler Sr. (Diane) and Bobby Tyler Sr., both of Silsbee; sisters, Wanda Menefee (Paul) and Linda Barnes (Michael), both of Beaumont; and 30 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
