William Dickerson West
William Dickerson West, was born July 13, 1937 to Cruse and Emma West.
William was born in Jasper, Texas. While there he spent a great deal of time with his favorite aunt, Bell Watkin Sells. He later moved to Silsbee with his mom, Ms, Emma and step-father Homer Vinson Jr.
William attended Waldo Matthews High School until he joined the United States Navy. He reported for duty on December 13, 1955 and he served until July 25, 1962.
Once he left the navy, he resided in Los Angles, California for quite some time. He later moved back to Silsbee where he would live out his life. He worked various jobs at the local paper mill and as a truck driver. He eventually retired and b became the local handy man about town until he became ill and moved to Houston to be close with family.
He departed this life, early on Tuesday morning, May 19, 2020. He is preceded in death
by his mother (Emma) and Father (Homer) and his brother (R.C. Cruse). He leaves behind, June Jeffcoat (life partner), daughter Kim West, on Craig Benfro, sisters Betty Hopson and Sharon Prior, brothers Larry Vinson and Donald Vinson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 9-11 am for the public and 11am-12 pm for the family, Saturday, May 30th at St. Beulah in Silsbee. Burial will be at Belgrade Cemetery in Biloxi, TX.
