Kyla Parker had a great year for the Kountze Lady Lions. The sophomore was 16-7 for the year.

Sam Fling

Body
Sam Fling, a freshman at Hardin-Jefferson High School, has had a very strong start to his high school running career. He qualified for Regionals in cross country by placing 6th overall in district, and finishing as the #1 Freshman. He has also proven himself in the outdoor track and field season by running a record 4:47 mile amongst very tough upperclassman competition at the district meet. This district perfor-mance ranked him as the #40 Top Freshman District Performer in all of Texas in the 1600 meter on Texas Milesplit. He also competed well in the high school indoor track season this year at McNeese University, University of Houston and LSU running the 1600 and 3200 meter races running against fierce competition from multistates. Sam is an all A student, and has big plans on running in college.He will continue training and competing this summer with Beaumont Track Club under Coach Roy Washington. Sam is the grandson of Roy and Christi Fling of Evadale.

Lady Rebels defeat Chireno in two games

Paisley Sanders was bad news for opposing pitchers on Friday, driving in four on three hits to lead Lady Rebels 2023 past Chireno 11-1 on Friday. Sanders drove in runs on a double in the second and a double in the third.

Tigers in third place after defeating LCM

The Silsbee Tigers swept a pair of games from LCM to move into third place in the District 9 4A baseball race. The wins came during the final week of the season while the Lumberton Raiders were having their bye week and had to just sit back and watch the action.

Lady Raiders lose in post season play

The Lumberton Lady Raiders opened their 2023 softball post season play with a game against Liberty on April 26. The Lady Raiders fell behind 2-0 in the first inning and from this point things got worse.

Lady Raiders lose 9-4 to Vidor Pirates

The Lumberton Lady Raiders dropped a 9-4 decision to Vidor on Monday. The Lady Raiders lost despite out hitting Vidor 8-6. However, Lumberton had seven errors to only one for Vidor. The Lady Pirates got the ball rolling in their favor in the second inning. Vidor scored on a double by E. Barraze and a sacrifice fly by C. Abbot.
