The Silsbee Lady Tigers ran their record to 11-2 with a 72-46 win over the LCM Lady Bears. The Lady Tigers are now 1-0 in district play.

Lucas Powell, a junior at Lumberton High School, was selected by District 10-4A Division 1 coaches as the District MVP. His teammates Brock Jackson, a junior defensive end was named the district’s defensive MVP and kicker Tanner Tipton was honored as the Special Teams MVP.

The Silsbee Tigers dropped a 93-63 game to Beaumont United on Tuesday, Dec. 6. The game was one day after Silsbee’s football players reported out for basketball and several of the football players were nursing injuries and did not report out.

The Kountze Lions had several players named to the All District for District 9 AAA Division 2. Chase Jones was a first team all district defensive tackle.

The Evadale Lady Rebels defeated Liberty by a 58-46 score last week. Liberty had the early lead in this game at 16-9 at the end of the first period but prior to the half the Lady Rebs had roared back to jump ahead 2825.

The Hardin Jefferson Hawks defeated Kountze in the first round of the Hardin Jefferson Touarnament by and 92-63 score. Zack Sells hit for nine in the opening period and Courts added 7 as the Hawks took an early 20-18 lead.

The Kountze Lions played in the White Oak Tournament last week and placed third. The Lions are made up entirely of freshman and sophomore players this year.

The Silsbee Lady Tigers won a couple of games Thursday in the Lufkin Hudson tournament. The defeated Crockett, 83-47 and they defeated Marshall by a 68-64 score.

The Silsbee Tigers travelled to Westbrook to battle the Bruins on Tuesday evening. The Bruins had a full squad read for action. They faced a team from Silsbee that has three starters and five other members of the 2021 squad who are still playing football.
