Hampshire signs with U of H to play baseball

Tine Hampshire, a Lumberton High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play baseball at the University of Houston last week.. The 6’3” 200 pound shortstop has used his glove and his bat to earn a place at Houston, but his future plans are to return to the pitching mound.

Raiders take area championship; headed to regionals

The Lumberton Raiders ran their record to 11-1 with a 23-8 victory over Stafford on Friday in a game played at Beaumont Memorial Stadium. The win was the tenth straight for the Raiders who are on the verge of posting their greatest season ever. The game was for the area championship for 4A Division 1.

The Kountze Lions boys basketball team opened their 202223 season on Tuesday with a 80-55 victory over the Splendora Wildcats. The Lions led throughout the game but for the first three quarters they appeared to be much like the Lions squads of ten to 12 years ago that ran up and down the court shooting the lights out of the basket and pressuring opponents into mistake after mistake.

Kountze girls off to fast start in 2022-23 basketball action

The Kountze Lady Lions ran their early season record to 4-0 with a pair of wins 42-34 over Nederland and 76-52 over Hull-Daisetta. Keyiona McDaniel got the Lions out of the gate against Nederland when she hit for ten first quarter points against the Lions’ 5A opponents.
