Several members of the Silsbee High School volleyball team were honored with all district honors. Ca’Driane Martin was a first team all-district selection.

The Madisonville Mustangs will play the Silsbee Tigers in the Regional Sem-finals at Planet Ford Stadium in Spring, Texas on Friday Nov. 25th.

The Silsbee Tigers travelled to Waller to play Smithville in a game that was largely settled prior to the half. If not, it was settled on the kick-ff after the half.

Tine Hampshire, a Lumberton High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play baseball at the University of Houston last week.. The 6’3” 200 pound shortstop has used his glove and his bat to earn a place at Houston, but his future plans are to return to the pitching mound.

The Lumberton Raiders ran their record to 11-1 with a 23-8 victory over Stafford on Friday in a game played at Beaumont Memorial Stadium. The win was the tenth straight for the Raiders who are on the verge of posting their greatest season ever. The game was for the area championship for 4A Division 1.

The Lumberton Raiders will meet Tyler Chapell Hill in a Region 3 4A Division 1 regional play-off game at Randall Reed Stadium in New Caney. Each of the teams enter the big game with ten game winning streaks.

The Evadale Rebels ran their record to 8-1 when they won the championship of the Nederland Tournament. The Rebels defeated Little Cypress-Mauriceville in the finals by a 45-40 score.

The Kountze Lions boys basketball team opened their 202223 season on Tuesday with a 80-55 victory over the Splendora Wildcats. The Lions led throughout the game but for the first three quarters they appeared to be much like the Lions squads of ten to 12 years ago that ran up and down the court shooting the lights out of the basket and pressuring opponents into mistake after mistake.

The Kountze Lady Lions ran their early season record to 4-0 with a pair of wins 42-34 over Nederland and 76-52 over Hull-Daisetta. Keyiona McDaniel got the Lions out of the gate against Nederland when she hit for ten first quarter points against the Lions’ 5A opponents.

The Silsbee Tigers claimed a 34-10 victory over Columbia in the Bi-district round off the playoffs Friday. The game was played in wet, windy and cold conditions in LaPorte, Texas.
