District 9-4A Division II standings

Before the season started, predictions were made regarding how this season would go down. Many stuck with the West-Orange Mustangs because they have been a 4A powerhouse for many years. Unfortunately for the Mustangs, this year has proven to not be their year. After a rough start, West-Orange Stark currently finds themselves in fourth place in district with a record of 2-3. They find themselves in that position after losses to Silsbee, Hamshire-Fannett and Jasper.

Lumberton trounces Little Cypress-Mauriceville

Orange- Even before someone decided to frame Lumberton for vandalizing Little Cypress-Mauriceville’s stadium, this game was tauted as one of the games to watch this season. Even with that nonsense going on, the Raiders stayed focus on one thing: beating LCM.

Cardinals defeat

BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University rolled up 344 yards of offense, and the defense recorded an early pick six as the Cardinals went on to defeat Nicholls, 24-17, Saturday afternoon at Provost Umphrey Stadium. The victory – LU’s first of the season – put an end to a 15-game slide dating back to September of last season.

BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University head coach Alvin Brooks will open his second season at the helm of the Cardinals’ men’s basketball program Wednesday when Big Red hosts North American in an exhibition contest. The game against the Stallions will tip off at 7 p.m.

Tigers win tough one against Hamshire Fannet

The Silsbee Tigers rallied in the fourth quarter for a come from behind 35-28 victory over the Hamshire Fannett Longhorns on Friday. The Tigers had led in this game throughout the first half and expanded that lead to 2714 in with 9:49 left in the third quarter before Hamshire mounted a huge comeback effort to take the lead at 28-27 at the end of the third quarter.

Prairie View defeats Cardinals

BEAUMONT – Prairie View A&M jumped out to a 34-14 advantage and never looked back Saturday evening defeating Lamar University, 54-21, in Provost Umphrey Stadium. The Cardinals (0-7/0-3 Southland) ended the night with 430 yards of total offense, including 358 on the ground.

Tigers streak past the Panthers

SILSBEE - The Silsbee Tigers streaked past the Liberty Panthers 61-6 on Friday, Oct. 14. Silsbee came into the game 2-0 in district and 6-0 overall while Liberty was 1-1 in district and 1-6 overall with their only win being against Hardin- Jefferson.
