Kountze Public Library kicks off reading program

Riding the train provided by the Sour Lake Lions Club was a big event for a lot of kids who showed up Tuesday morning to register for the Kountze Public Library’s Summer Reading program and to enjoy activities and treats.The Sour Lake Lions Club has had the train for several years and it is used several times each year at various events.

Julie Cowart, Kountze Public Library librarian, was one of many who worked hard to get ready for the big event Tuesday which kicked off the Summer Reading Program and provided a wide variety of entertainment and treats for those who attended. In background is a wide variety of butterflies which Kountze students have painted over the years.

Kids of all ages enjoyed “driving” the Sour Lake Lions train Tuesday morning.There is a steering wheel in each barrel.
