TEA Releases Accountability Ratings

Hardin County- TEA released district and campus Accountability Reports for the 2021-2022 school year on Monday, August 15. All districts and campuses received a rating of A, B, C, or Not Rated for the 2021-2022 school year.

Any district or campus that would have received a D or F will receive a Not Rated, instead. Statewide, there were 564 campuses that received a Not Rated, which equates to 6.7% of all schools in the state. The majority of campuses within the state that received a No Rating were elementary campuses.

Overall, the majority, 46%, of campuses statewide received a B Districts are rated in three domains–Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps. In determining the ratings, TEA considers such factors as student achievement on STAAR (grades 3-11), College, Career, and Military Readiness, Graduation Rate, Students’ Academic Growth, Relative Performance (comparing to districts and campuses with similar demographics), and Students’ English Language Proficiency.

Each district and campus has an opportunity to earn Distinction Designation. Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics. The distinction designation indicators are typically separate from those used to assign accountability ratings.

According to information provided by TEA, Silsbee ISD received a rating of C. Silsbee Elementary, Laura Reeves Primary, and Edwards-Johnson Memorial Middle School each received a Not Rated. As for the high school, it received a C.

Kountze ISD received a B overall rating. Kountze Middle School was the only campus to receive a C. The remaining Kountze campuses received a B.

Lumberton ISD received a B as did every campus but Lumberton Intermediate. It received a C.

Commenting on Lumberton’s rating, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Learning Dr. Igor Gusyakov stated that, “This rating is a huge accomplishment. Our District’s success starts at the Early Childhood campus and goes all the way to the High School. Campuses build upon each other’s work. This is definitely time for a celebration. There are always areas of growth–we will analyze the data in more detail and work on those areas together as a District to ensure our students’ continued success.”

Finally, Evadale received an A with the junior and the high school received an A rating while Evadale Elementary received a B.
