Commissioner’s Court Tables Discussion of Road Closure

Kountze- During a regularly scheduled meeting of the Hardin County Commissioner’s Court held on Tuesday, September 13, the court agreed to table discussion and possible approval of an order to close a 715 foot by 15 foot section of roadway called Mc-Gallion Road in Precinct 2. The request was made by Paul Watts.

District introduces improvement plan

Lumberton- During its regularly scheduled board meeting Thursday night, Lumberton ISD introduced its improvement plan for improving campuses that received a C on TEA’s school report card, whether overall or within specific domains.

New bottle works exhibit

Silsbee- The Ice House Museum is hosting a new exhibit that details the inner workings of a bottle works that existed in Silsbee from 19091913. During this time, the Silsbee Ice & Mfg Co not only produced ice, but it also bottled its own soda in Silsbee. The Bottle Works only stayed open until 1913 when the building caught fire and burnt to the ground.

For example, residents at Silsbee Oaks Healthcare recently set sail aboard the cruise ship USS Anna where they got their passport stamped & embarked on a trip to their destination of Cancun. We learned about tourist attractions & sampled a variety of foods that were authentic to the culture while sipping on Pina Colada’s. They did not even have to leave the facility to enjoy it. All that was needed was some creative planning and a strong dose of imagination.

AUSTIN — On Thursday, September 8, 2022, Texas Secretary of State John Scott released the first installment of “SOS 101”, a series of videos educating voters about election administration in Texas ahead of the November 8, 2022 General Election. In the first SOS 101 video, Secretary Scott provides an overview of the voter registration process in Texas, including how eligible Texans can register to vote, how county voter registrars process voter registration applications, and how voter rolls in each of Texas’ 254 counties are maintained for accuracy. Secretary Scott also visits with Brazos County Elections Administrator Trudy Hancock to discuss voter registration in her county.
