Burley Morris Woods Jr., 86, went to be with his Heavenly Father peacefully in his sleep Friday, August 26, 2022. Burley was extremely kind and hardworking in all that he pursued, including family. He was born on February 15, 1936, in Crossett, Arkansas to the late Burley Morris Woods, Sr. and Hattie Johnson Woods.

He grew up living life on the farm in Arkansas before moving his family to Texas for work. After moving to Texas around 1956, Burley worked 40+ years at Temple Inland/Westrock in Evadale, Texas. He made many friends in Silsbee, whom he cared deeply for. Silsbee would be where he would live for the next 67 years of his life. Raising 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren & 4 great-great grandchildren in this time, it is safe to say Burley was surrounded by tons of family and friends that loved him dearly.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and all days of the week he was in the hunting club or at his lake house. He absolutely loved doing these things with all his family, and this became a tradition that was celebrated by all his family & friends alike. Always cracking jokes and picking at people, his sense of humor was second to none.

He loved the holidays and was one of the best cooks you would ever come across. He loved to bake pies and cookies, cakes, and divinity. He mastered the art of cooking meringue and always had something for you to eat when you came to visit. A stocked fridge for the grandkids and a charged golf cart to ride around on and decorate for the 4th of July. A boat ride to end the day and watch the sunset. Birthday cards were never missed, and the $25 was always remembered for the grandkids until you turned 18, then it was time to work.

A life well lived with love given to all that crossed his path, his soft-spoken tone could wipe away all worries present. He was a great man that valued the quality of his work, including the work done for his family. All that knew Burley, will miss him greatly, but he will remain in our hearts and minds for eternity.

Thank you, Burley, for all you accomplished in your life, to make the lives of others more fulfilling and meaningful. You are loved by so many!
