Edd Deberry Avery, 95, of Lumberton, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023. He was born on July 8, 1928 in Paxton, Texas to the late Lon C. Avery and Mary Shofner Avery.

Funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 20 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following at Waldrop Cemetery in Fairplay, Texas. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 at the funeral home.

Edd was a proud veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War era. He married his loving wife, Shirley Ann Hardin on August 17, 1957 and they were married for 56 years until the time of her passing in 2012. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Edd was a loving husband, father, PawPaw, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Ann Hardin Avery; siblings, Richard “Jack” Avery, Vaughn Avery, Leon Avery, Leathy Dougharty, Sylvester Warren Avery, George Avery, Nell Mangram, and EB Avery.

Edd is survived by his children, Jearl Avery, Garland Avery, Debra Ann Whatley and husband Darrell; grandchildren, Felicia Ann Worsham and husband Joseph, John Allen Avery, April Nicole Avery, Melissa Thompson and husband Michael, Douglas Whatley, Danielle Rene Whatley, Brittni Michelle Cepeda and husband Jose, Carley Leann Whatley and fiancé Jakob; great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jeremiah, Kira, Christopher, Rayleigh, Sophia, Jr; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
