Edna Cook

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Edna Earle Cook, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 27, 2023, at the age of 89.

Edna was born on February 4, 1934 in Ora, Angelina County, Texas and spent her life dedicated to her family, her church, and her love of cooking. She was known for her kind heart, her warm smile, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved.

Throughout her life, Edna was a devoted wife to her husband, Wayne Lamar Cook who passed away 10 years ago. Together, they created a wonderful family of 5 children.

In addition to her role as a wife and mother, Edna was a dedicated member of her church, First Pentecostal Church in Silsbee, TX. She gave generously of her time by volunteering to help those in need and preparing delicious meals for her church family.

Edna also had a love of cooking, which she pursued with a passion throughout her life. She was known for her greens and cornbread, coconut cake, and a big pot of red beans. Her delicious cooking was enjoyed by hundreds. Her kitchen was always full.

Above all else, Edna will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She was a pillar of strength and support for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

Edna is survived by her four children, Eddie Cook and wife Donna, Bryan Cook and wife Connie, Sharon Azar, Peggy Conway and husband Marv; her seven grandchildren, Joseph Cook and wife Haley, Courtney Azar, Kevin Conway, Ashley Rosado and husband, Kevin, Max Conway, Matthew Creamer and Justin Creamer and her four great-grandchildren, Addison Cook, Sawyer Cook, Hazel Rosado, and Kaether Rosado. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Oliver and Myrtle Boyd and her brother, Bruce Ferguson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Cook; oldest son Lamar; her parents, Reta and Calvin Ferguson; siblings, Velma King, Francis Ferguson, Eugene Ferguson, Albert Ferguson, Geraldine Weatherford, Irene Oliver, and Adell Birch.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A gathering of Mrs. Cook’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m. with her funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at First Pentecostal Church, 1420 N 5th Street, Silsbee. Edna will be laid to rest beside her husband Wayne, at Knupple Cemetery in Silsbee, Texas.

Rest in peace, dear Mom. Rejoice in heaven with Daddy and Lamar. You will be forever loved and missed.
