Irene and Cotton moved to Silsbee in 1947 where they began their family and reared their children. She was kind, loving, gentle, hardworking, and generous. Irene served as a homemaker, seamstress, and was an excellent southern cook. She was an active member of First Methodist Silsbee and participated in various organizations within the church. Irene was very supportive of her children as they participated in educational and extracurricular activities. To her grandchildren, she was affectionately known as Grandma. As a grandmother, she dearly loved her grandkids and great grandkids.

For the past 1 ½ years, our mother received excellent care from her caregivers with Earth Angels. A heartfelt thank you to Jackie, Joyce, Beatrice, Barbara, and neighbor, Nola. Over the last 1 ½ weeks of her life, Harbor Hospice also provided wonderful care. We sincerely appreciate all of the help, compassion, and guidance she and our family received.
