Jay Lee “Buddy” Hare, 71, of Silsbee, died Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Christus Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born July 11, 1951, in Kountze, to Jewell Womack Hare Knight and Thomas Lecester Hare.

Jay Lee retired from the City of Beaumont Water Works after several years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors especially when spending time on the Neches River. Buddy will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and PawPaw.

Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Freddye Hare; daughters, Tonya Burnette and her husband, Tim, of Buna; Lea Ann Dougharty and her husband, Philip, of Evadale; and Toia Parham and her husband, J.R., of Buna; son, Jay Lee Hare, Jr. and his wife, Angela, of Atascosita; grandchildren, Taylor, Tori, Madison, Mallory, Archer, Garrett, and Gavin; great-grandchildren, Amzi, Weston, Elizabeth, and Jax; sisters, Darlene Defee and her husband, Mike, of Hemphill and Gay Day and her husband, Buddy, of Evadale; brothers, Jerry Lynn Hare and his wife, Glenda, of Silsbee and Tommy Hare and his wife, Kris, of Olympia, Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, T.L. Hare; mother and stepfather, Jewell and Buck Knight; and grandson, Neches Lee Parham.

A gathering of Buddy’s family and friends was at 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Central Baptist Church, 120 Private Road 8325, Evadale, under the direction of Broussard’s, Silsbee. His interment followed at Morse Cemetery, Buna.
