MILDRED BUMSTEAD

Mildred Sue Bumstead, 87, of Kountze, died Saturday, December 10, 2022. She was born on July 12, 1935, in Bronson, Texas, to Avie Whitehead Ruso and James Ruso.

Sue enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed her Sunday School class and playing cards and games with her grandchildren. Sue will forever remain a loving wife, mother, and MaMaw.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Bumstead, Jr. and his wife, Kathy; Mike Bumstead and his wife, Mary; and Rusty Bumstead and his wife, Michelle, all of Kountze; and Tommy Bumstead and his wife, Honey, of Houston; daughters, Kathy Fugitt and her husband, Mike, of Brookeland; and Lisa Coward and Dena Bumstead, both of Beaumont; seventeen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Glen Ruso of Buna.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of twenty-eight years, R.M. Bumstead; brothers, Hersel Ruso and Wayne Ruso; sisters, Hazel Gordon and Helen Crocker; and granddaughter, Brittany Phillips.

A gathering of Mrs. Bumstead’s family and friends began at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2022, with Pastor Delbert Milstead officiating at Central Baptist Church, 33814 Highway 96, Buna, under the direction of Broussard’s, Silsbee. Her interment followed at Franks Branch Cemetery, Fred.
